^ That or a little 600lb john boat for fishing etc. Hitch = fucked is the stupidest thing i've heard in a LONG time.

A lot of people install hitches just for bike racks etc. Those are the worst things for car ever. Might as well have a salvage title.

As soon as a car with a hitch gets rear-ended, it's pretty much a write-off. Fucks up the end panel and the floor pretty good.

I forgot how much I hate CL... Listed a motorbike for 5900 bucks, said right in the ad would trade + cash for a CB650R, KTM 690, or Yamaha MT 07/09, all bikes worth 2-4k more, some fuckwit emails me and offers $2900 bucks. Like fuck off. If i'm upgrading, I clearly don't need the money urgently, or ever, and that's exactly (well $50 less actually) than half. Fuck right off.

hud 91gt 04-10-2020 06:20 PM

Your going to get a lot of that over the next while. A lot of people expect a lot of people to be pretty strapped and desperate.

I suspect the deals to be had (soon) will be people not renewing their leases. If you're laid off, and not sure what's going happen then the sensible thing is to cut costs. You don't need two cars in lockdown/unemployment.

did he refer to you as buddy and tell you how your wipers look worn so that's like -$2,000, and a bunch of other random things to substantiate how offering $2,900 is doing you a favour?

aside from giving away free junk i'm pretty much done with listing stuff on CL these days...

dared3vil0 04-10-2020 07:15 PM

Lol the lazy fuck didn't even put enough effort into it to do that, just said "2900 bucks tonight"

dorian 04-10-2020 07:27 PM

i get those " ill take it off your hands " for 50% off the price :)

dared3vil0 04-10-2020 07:32 PM

LOL craigslist, you are so fucked. If it's legit, different guy just offered me a couple hundred below asking, sent 5 mins after the first moron. Sweet. Haha.

twitchyzero 04-10-2020 07:36 PM

set of seats in florida posted over a month ago

jeez, he must have clicked on the wrong link, sounds like he was looking for an expensive callgirl :lol

Teriyaki 04-10-2020 10:52 PM

Selling on craigslist is the worst sometimes.

tofu1413 04-11-2020 12:01 AM

FB market place is a bit better.

i do get the lowball now and then.

i respond with no.

then they bump their offer by $5.

then i say, how do you plan to come up with the rest?

9/10 of them dont reply, the 1 guy ends up paying list.

twitchyzero 04-11-2020 01:33 AM

ohh

SkunkWorks 04-11-2020 05:33 AM

Lots of idiots out there. Not tied to any specific platform IMO.

I was selling a pair of brake ducts for $225 and went for the reverse lowball and then the buyer/seller role swap when he didn't get the hint :lol

This is why I’ve given up selling shit. That and covid. I’m just going to keep both my Italians in quarantine until covid goes away.

bcrdukes 04-11-2020 06:59 AM

That's unlikely for the Porsche crowd. More often than not, and in my experience, Porschephiles are good about offering 10% less than asking (give or take 5%) or ask for shipping to be included, and it's a gentleman's deal from there onward. This guy in the example is just a complete turd.

punkwax 04-11-2020 07:15 AM

Offering $175 for a $225 ask is being a complete turd? He probably wants to “Meet in the middle” and pay $200 so around 10% less than asking.. this is not the same as dared3vil0 being offered less than half of his asking price for the bike.

Still a funny reverse lowball. Think I’ll use that one day :lol

GIZZ 04-11-2020 07:29 AM

Craigslist is getting bad. Last week I listed my '69 Acadian for $15000, I've had 3 boat trade offers, jetskis, a basket case 57 chevy post and a rough 66 mustang. The worst offer I had was $5000. The best was 2 guys emailing about knowing the cars history and just want to say hi. I finally accepted an offer on it, it it doesn't go as planned next weekend I will keep it and build it.

whitev70r 04-11-2020 07:56 AM

^ you're lucky you didn't get an offer of an iPhone 8 or a. PlayStation.

If he genuinely meant $175, and not let things go south like in the example above, then I would have said okay, but to fall for this whole role reversal trap is just :fulloffuck:

GLOW 04-11-2020 08:53 AM

i had an offer for a 5 year old iMac once for a car :lol
my windshield wiper comment was a real life example, this was from a pic too, didn't come to see in person :lawl:

i agree fb marketplace seems a bit better as you see the person/name, less anonymous so you feel more comfortable that it's not some kid and his buddies trying to set you up behind a dumpster behind a 7-11.

twitchyzero 04-11-2020 10:15 AM

i only meet in unlit backalleys of east vancouver

Completely agree. 99% of Porsche guys locally and on RL/Pelican have been awesome to deal with. Quick payment, quick shipping, and no BS.

I should've prefaced my post. I didn't respond to his initial $175 offer. Three weeks later he throws out the $75 lowball from out of nowhere. That's when I had enough :lol
