That has to be the daintiest gear selector I've ever seen.

The auto on those is so so so so so bad... soooooooo bad...

Manual ones you can get by with just an IV setup taking blood from you slowly... auto is just a corotid artery sliced open

I asked my general manager (who’s the ex GM of Ferrari Maserati Vancouver )....

“How are these coupes?”

Him: oh god they’re awful.

“Is this worth it?”

Him: how much gas is in it?

I wouldn't say good buy, but pretty unique. Would have been better with a manual transmission

vitaminG 03-30-2021 08:52 PM

Certainly needs a new engine but I guess for the right price it may be worth fixing

I hate how the interior looks like it's straight from an Alibaba catalogue

I hate how bland the interior looks for a supposedly 'premium' brand.

Best priced Golf R I've seen ... and all prepped and inspected at a dealer for you. Carfax shows no accidents, all service done at VW dealer. Mileage on the high side but ...

2016 Golf R, blue (best colour), tech package, 140K kms, $24,900. Damn, did the math on it and you'd be paying >$3100 taxes on it. Just hate this bend over part of buying a car, or else, I'd seriously find the loose coins in the sofa to pull the trigger.

Here is CL posting - https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van...299000182.html

Here it is at the dealer, White Rock VW https://www.whiterockvw.com/used/veh...id10709636.htm

C'mon, someone get this.

I know there are at least a few of us on RS with Golf R's, so they'd know the car better than I do. Having been a multiple VW owner in the past for quite some time, I am a little skeptical on how good a deal this Golf R is.

With the VW's that I or my family has owned before, the 5 - 6 year and/or 120k+ km mark is when maintenance costs start ramping up at a different trajectory. Some are little items, while others are bigger costs items. Regardless, I'd say this higher servicing and maintenance costs better be taken into account of the TCO calculations, or there is going to be a rude awakening.

25k OTD would be a really good price. Last 2 used cars I've bought at the dealer I've gotten for the sticker price. They eat the tax and all the fees. That's a pretty reasonable discount for all parties.

I'm still kicking myself for not sacking up in the fall and buying this local spektrum 3 pedal car. Doesn't get much better than this, and it would hold value wayyyy better than yet another standard colour DSG R

westopher 03-31-2021 09:52 AM

Dat inspirational quote though.

The Producer 03-31-2021 09:57 AM

it also came with the inspirational quote book

68style 03-31-2021 10:27 AM

The special order colour R’s really are a treat, will be fun when more of them start popping up for sale in the future

320icar 03-31-2021 10:42 AM

My buddy has that purple e-golf. It’s such a treat. So much better than the black/white/silver sea you always see

Hondaracer 03-31-2021 11:12 AM

That purple is pretty sweet

whitev70r 03-31-2021 11:25 AM

What about this for a Golf R ...

I think it was a 4k option to get any of these. There's a viper green one around my house.

EDIT: IT WAS A $2995 OPTION. found a quote from when I was looking at them.

CorneringArtist 03-31-2021 11:45 AM

Nardo Grey :sweetjesus:

whitev70r 03-31-2021 11:45 AM

$4K is a bit $$$$ but it is dealer. A wrap would cost $2000? For $4K, you can change color 2x!

Fafine 03-31-2021 11:52 AM

Whoa wrapping cars for 2k?

When you consider how much it costs to paint individual parts like a bumper or a hood at a body shop, having the entire car painted at factory quality for $4k with some absurd colour isn’t too bad.

westopher 03-31-2021 12:50 PM

Yeah a wraps cheaper, but it’s a wrap. They’ve gotten much better over the years but paint still looks WAY nicer.
