They can try and recover it from the estate, but once that's settled they are out of luck.

I've always wondered how estates works, what if you took on debt, transferred the cash or asset, and you die with liabilities

Truck market is only going to get worse in the short-term... all the production lines are capped right now from Dodge/Ford/Chevrolet because of the world shortage on semi-conductors.

Supply is going to be super low for new vehicles... used will jump even more as a result.

For the truck owners on here, are you guys in construction? Haul a ton of bricks everyday? What makes you need to buy a $90k truck? It seems like something horrible to drive daily.

But then most construction guys I see parked on the side of construction sites drive beat up sedans with their work clothes and tools thrown all over.

For me it’s the freedom to get loads of materials, wood, landscaping stuff etc. Then also having 4x4 for winter, off road, etc

When you get into those limited, Denali, long-horn, etc. Most of those trucks drive as good, if not better than many sedans that claim a good ride etc.

Obviously driving up the coquihalla or into the interior/kootneys you’d rather be in a nice sporty sedan or SUV, but the ride of any new truck is not a burden in terms of ride or comfort

This. I live in that 120k household. It’s the new ‘barely middle class’. Can’t afford to own a home but have an iPhone and can at least pay your bills.

My wife and I constantly ask how these white ppl in the sticks own mansion, multiple vehicles, toy haulers, side by sides, motor homes etc. My friend always reminds me “they own nothing, the bank does”

$140 tank will typically get you 700-900 highway kms in the new trucks with 5.0L or turbo engines

The 1500 Sierra Denali has a 6.2...

My Ecoboost f150 got 15L/100 mixed my s4 does 12.5 same commute. Once you factor in regular vs premium it's not a huge difference in fuel cost

Boss got a new Ram truck idk which one, since he does a lot of road shows (COVID permitting) and he has to tow his trailer. Think it's a pretty decent sized trailer, since he said his newer 4Runner was having trouble towing.

This is such a big misconception LOL. The write off exists, but the misconception of being able to write off 100% is incorrect. Exception being trucks if you work in construction and purpose built vehicles (ie. Cherry pickers/commerical vehicles)

In short, if you own your car, you can only write off your business portion with a mileage log showing each and every trip, identitying if business or personal. You can also write off on a per km basis, but you won't be able to write off maintenance, insurance, etc this way since it's all inclusive

If your company owns your car, personal mileage is added onto your income as a taxable benefit. Or you can pay the company back (yes even if it's your own company - figure it out)

If you lease a car, you still have to do business mileage log, and the maximum deduction limit is $800/mo + tax.

The real tax write-off comes in owning a zero emissions vehicle. You can write off 100% of the capital cost allowance (CCA) in the first year, rather than writing it off little by little per year.

This got long.

1999 BUICK REGAL (SUPERCHARGED) - $5,000 (STILL CREEK)

1999 BUICK REGAL RS (SUPERCHARGED)
***ONE OWNER***
3.8L SUPER CHARGED
AUTOMATIC
106,XXX KM’S
FULL LOAD W/LEATHER AND HEATED SEATS
NEW TIRES
REGULAR MAINTANANCE
NO MECHANICAL ISSUES
2 SETS OF KEYS AND FOBS

TWO ISSUES:
-DAMAGE TO REAR BUMPER
-LEFT MIRROR DISCOLOURED
One owner or original owner? Important semantic question

$5k is steep considering it has puncture holes on the rear bumper. When I considered selling mine (which has 87,xxx km and mint body), even I thought $5k was too high. Unless you find an American buyer who's willing to do all the logistical work themselves, that guy will be sitting on that car for awhile.

PS: Anyone go back to the first few pages to see how nutty some of the deals were? I don't see those days coming back. Seems like everyone thinks they own a BaT special or 'aS seSEen oN reGUlaR CaR ReVieWs' price adjusted deadbeater

According to Porsche Vancouver, a 718 Cayman lease only has a monthly payment of $898 after a $6100 down payment:

https://dealer.porsche.com/ca/vancou...-CA/offers/new

So how do I set up a shell company so that I can drive a Cayman for $98/month? I can totally swing that $6k down payment, you know?

You'd have to only drive it for business purposes for 100% deduction and prove it as such. Take that however you want. Here's a link to an incorporation application:
https://www.corporateonline.gov.bc.c...CORP&from=main

This is why I don't think it's a big deal owning numbered companies / starting your own business. Click that link. Voila, you're now a small business owner. Whoopdeedo. You're special. LOL

First of all, DDE got a VI in their AB plated CGT.

Secondly, it's actually very easy. The New West Partnership Trade Agreement allows you to easily register in BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. This is typically done for Amazon sellers who sell country wide and thus do business in all of those provinces. Legally, in order for you to solicit business in any provinces other than BC, you will need to register. Also fuck Quebec, that shit is a pita.

Thirdly, while all these steps I've listed are very easy and public information. What's not easy is convincing CRA that your entire lifestyle is business purposes, which it seems like DDE has done successfully. From what I gather, it plays in hand that they're influencers, thus everything they do is to generate revenue for their business. How they were able to provide the CRA with sufficient evidence of such thing, well someone let me know about that. I want a GT4 LOL.

Given what DDE does on the road, do you really expect their finances/insurance are 100% legit?

Yah DDE is for sure 100% legit on their taxes and insurance... lol
