That Civic was so tempting, I was looking at it at work, half an hr after, page is already gone.

Only 120k, new michelin tires and brakes, super clean, only $3000, was too good of a deal.

Did Honda ever replace the Prelude? My guess would be the RSX, unless that was simply the evolution of the Integra.

68style 07-07-2018 09:20 AM

Integra to RSX I mean it was even called Integra in other countries... I think the Prelude was deemed to be redundant with the Accord Coupe available.

tofu1413 07-07-2018 09:25 AM

safe to say the RSX type S replaced both the Integra GS-R and Prelude as a luxury sporting coupe.

just like how the TSX and TL was replaced by the TLX (annoyingly)

punkwax 07-07-2018 10:33 AM

I thought the ILX replaced the TSX.. I would somewhat agree the RSX replaced Integras but in my opinion, the Prelude was never really replaced, just discontinued.

SSM_DC5 07-07-2018 11:07 AM

CSX replaced by ILX.
And why not a replacement of the prelude? Both 2 door, both leather interior, both similar hp... Because different badge? Because hatch vs coupe?

punkwax 07-07-2018 02:29 PM

Different styling I suppose. Preludes had longer front ends and were less wedge shaped IMO.

tofu1413 07-07-2018 03:11 PM

Accord Coupe was "replacing" the Prelude, especially after they introduced the V6 model somewhere in the line.

Coupes arent hot nowadays- the accord coupe is no longer being offered for sale. Everyone wants a god damn SUV.

I think honda/ acura had too many coupes in the 90's for north america.

crx/del sol , civic, accord, prelude, integra, legend coupe , vigor coupe, nsx..

And back in the day, I saw each and everyone one of these on the street aplenty so Honda (and other brands) were doing it right. I mean without the variety of coupes, there wouldn't be much of a tuner scene.

The big V8 RWD Personal Luxury Coupes were dead by the millennium in favour of the cars you listed.

A tuner meet now would consist of a row of baby bootie looking contraptions that sound like coffee grinders LUL

the late model 3.2CL type S were very very handsome cars....

Lexus SC400 too! ..... Supra, 300ZX, GTO, MR2, RX-7.... Yep. Golden era! Those cars made the european cars of same era seem plain

The 6 speed legends are also very hard to come by. not the 2.7L, but the c32a. cruiser NSX they call it.. and they had really cool options inside

That's what we did with ours, remote start + heated seats was amazing for a daily. Enough power to have fun and pretty cheap on fuel despite needing 91.

Probably because a coupe sucks for practicality. As much as I loved the Prelude the storage was pitiful compared to my hatchback Celica. Even with the seats folded down the passthrough was smaller than it needed to be for some reason so you couldn't fit much.
