Which year of the i8 is the one with the good insurance? ie the normal insurance?

tofu1413 12-10-2022 05:30 PM

If I remember it’s 2017+

It’s on the rate 98 list.

The Producer 12-10-2022 06:18 PM

i've seen more i8's in the last 6 months than the last 6 years. not sure why - there must be one around my neighborhood that I keep seeing.

quite striking - aging well.

tofu1413 12-10-2022 07:17 PM

It was a bit of a commercial flop like the Gen 2 NSX.

If the car offered a few more cylinders on the table, slightly more range and was released around…. Now? The i8 would be a bigger success.

bomberR17 12-10-2022 09:58 PM

If the i8 had at least 450hp, it would be a hit. People thought it would compete with the Audi R8 but they were so wrong lol. Funny thing is, they surprisingly sold 20k+ i8's in it's entire lifespan.

westopher 12-11-2022 08:07 AM

More I8s sold than e30 m3s.
It's a cool car in the sense that they were trying to push things in a new direction. I actually think the i3 is cooler though lol. Too bad everything else they make now is just catastrophically bad.

Badhobz 12-11-2022 11:33 AM

I saw a few iX’s on the road. I’m pretty sure the people who bought those need to get their friggin eyes checked. It’s the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen…. Next to their new 7 series

IMO, it is definitely one of BMW's best designs. I just wish it had more horsepower. It's pretty much bang for buck now for a car with butterfly doors haha. pre-2017 are below $100k now with room to continue.

tofu1413 12-11-2022 03:12 PM

5% tax only plus one of the few cars you can buy for under 100k with carbon tub!

Badhobz 12-11-2022 05:21 PM

That carbon tub is so wide, getting in and out is annoyingly difficult

i3 had carbon tub and it's like 30k haha

trollface 12-11-2022 06:31 PM

So are these cars way easier to write off because no one knows how to reaper carbon tubs?

Gerbs 12-11-2022 08:40 PM

what's so good about a carbon tub?

lol... I remember it being not that bad, but maybe I was just excited...

The one I was in had the full white interior, I just remember who in their right mind will spec one like this knowing the Vancouver weather... but then again, they probably have multiple cars and can send this into detail every 2 weeks lol

Decent deal for a low KM, no-rust, unmodified, late-model, optional color (sunburst yellow), NA Miata: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1709...07212176216443

Edit: Oops requires FB group membership. Here's details in case anybody curious. Looks like it's due for a new radiator soon though:

Ask: $9,750

1992 only optional colour sunburst yellow.
Low kms (154,000). No rust. All original minus the Konig wheels. Collector plated prior to my ownership. I did not submit the paperwork to do so myself. Stored inside by the previous owner and myself. New Exedy clutch, valve cover gasket, and cam angle sensor seal in the last 1000kms. Valve train appears brand new. Original shocks would benefit from replacement and there is some wear at the fold points in the soft top. Don't want to sell, buy I am open to downsizing for an impending move.

That radiator isn't due soon, it's due yesterday. Buyers should make sure those mud flaps aren't hiding any rust either.

trollface 12-12-2022 11:20 AM

Half the NA miatas ive seen have the same color rad on the top, it's not actually rust or anything.

I think it just gets discolored for some reason.
