Wow. If that car is clean and not a lemon that seems like an amazing deal.
*I don't know the specifics of that model, but Alpine typically make amazing stuff from what I've read.

That car is VERY enticing... aged well with the Alpina styling add-ons, beautiful interior and fast... reviews had it at 3.7s 0-60... the N63 V8 TT engine is not known to be reliable at all though.
That car was anywhere between $130-150k USD new.

I don't know a lot about Alpina but I know their H1 engine in the B7 is flawed and short lived so you'd want to look into whatever they did to the N63 to make the M2/1.

That car was anywhere between $130-150k USD new. | It's a matter of when, not if the engine will need to come out.

BMW sells replacement N63 TU in the states for very very chepa (3500 parts cost) cuz they fail so often.. might not be so bad
I think the real question is whether the interior / driving experience works for you
The newer competitors mask their weight nad have much better designed interiors imo

I have no idea where things are now as they aren't really hiring. | My golfing buddies Amazon started in 2019/20 at $80-90K Base + $40K RSU total over I believe 3 or 4 years? 2024, they're at $120-150K base. Stupidly low for how talented they are, some are worked like a dog. I heard Amazon base now is closer to $100-110k.
One left Amazon for Meta at $230K TC at signing with META stocks booming they're almost at $400-500K. He's works anywhere between 20-80 hours a week
I think it's short sighted to look at year 1-3 salary. A better metric might be years 5/10/25 earnings, stability, hours worked. Quote:

I'll take myself for an example. I am making 170k right now. I do my work everyday and I don't really think about it. But put 10 years ago me, or even 6 years ago me in my job, that younger me would look at myself like I'm god. It's something to think about when if all of a sudden you are feeling like you have imposter syndrome. And that's only the technical bit. There's the soft skills of being able to cut out all the BS from communications and pick out the little pieces of value. | Completely agree with that, went from doing grunt work in crafting an argument to having a vote in the decision of layoffs, who to axe, where to allocate capital, how to securing funding, giving a yes/no on new products/service. Any bad decisions come back at ya. it also helps if all your friends in your industry are growing too, they can advise ya when you have imposter syndrome

Any bad decisions come back at ya. it also helps if all your friends in your industry are growing too, they can advise ya when you have imposter syndrome | Vancouver ultimately is going to be shit for pay. There's no reason to stay here unless you are tied down by family, Seattle is way better in terms of take home pay and especially if you plan to retire back in Vancouver. A FAANG offer in Vancouver is going to result in mid 100k range salary and 5 figure RSU over 3 years(stupid), a similar job based in Seattle would carry RSUs in the 200-300k USD range, with a TC of 1/4 million+. And keep in mind, IN USD not Canadian Pesos.
Any time you are involved with layoff decisions, you need to be paid. Otherwise I would tell them that's beyond my paygrade because I can't make that decision. That's too big a responsibility to bear, unless you want to give me the compensation that comes with it. The moment it comes out you are responsible for those decisions, you position within your peers is instantly different and those you thought were friends will no longer be because you hold their destiny in your hands.

I thought the newer alfas were pretty good, it's a Ferrari engine with 2 cylinders cut off. And the transmission is zf8? Which should be fairly reliable
