I'd say that's getting close for sure! Depends on the usual E46 m3 maintenance and upkeep but if in check then could be good yup |

2006 Mazda 3 GT sedan 158xxx km no rust owner reports front brakes will need to be done service history includes regular oil changes at minute lube. does not have any receipts for oil changes. has receipts for the suspension and alternator work though. insurance runs out by saturday - hopes to sell by then. Looks to be a great price for the vehicle, too bad I'm looking for a hatch back http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/cto/5648475692.html Looks like a lot of maintenance already done, skeptical about no burning oil at 247xxx km though? |

The 2000 guy is not as cooperative and seems less motivated to sell. It also kind of annoyed me that he wanted to continue to email from his craigslist address rather that provide a phone number, just a sort of sketchy vibe.. Also is unable to provide any maintenance records and I put his response below: "Maintence I cannot prove anything. As I bought this car to STi engine swap it and widebody kit the car. Timing seems fine. Head gasket look ok. Nothing leaking underneath the car as it sat in my garage for few months. I purschased this car last year btw. Driving it seems fine as well. This was not used as our daily drive. This was bought for a project car. The last owner used it as a daily driver though. As for pictures I wont be able to get those to you until the weekend when I'm back in town. Thanks." |
^ If they don't want to show it, it's a fake ad |
yeah focus on the 98 and leave the other as last option... unfortunately this model is not as plentiful as a like a hundred honda civics all over the classifieds so choices are few. |

don't know if i am the only one who has a soft spot for these... 1988 Jdm Nissan fairlady factory rb20det - $11800 https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rch/ctd/5633841987.html https://images.craigslist.org/00B0B_...8m_600x450.jpghttps://images.craigslist.org/00M0M_...Mw_600x450.jpg |
+1 the 98 sounds better. head gaskets were done at 200k on the 98, that's a biggie, especially when both the 2000 and 98 have over 200k kms on them. seems like he did everything else at the same time which is good. |

For the 00 he said has no maintenance records because he got it from a dealer, is this normal or is he possibly hiding that it hasnt been maintained? Its been sitting so that gives me the idea that if it runs, probably not very well or for very long.. |

IMO if you cannot verify if/when the head gaskets on the 00 were changed, you need to allow around another $1,500 iirc. IMO the asking price & mileage is where it should be if that work has been done. my 2 cents anyway. |
was hoping others would pitch in with their opinions... but because this model is not that common, i would not write it off the 00 entirely, unless another one comes up for sale. again, a good mechanic with subaru knowledge should be able to determine if it's worth it after an inspection... but if i'm going to read too deep into the return comments to you, the seller may not have cared about the mechanical condition since he was going to do a swap, which is why the seller doesn't really know anything about it other than it was a daily driver prior to buying it. on a side note... this is unfortunate. is that really how much it costs for an sti swap these days? and then there is the labor to put it in, and it's not all plug and play... seems cheaper to just buy a RHD GC8 STi and be happy with it: 2000 subaru impreza rs(gc8) - $2500 https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rch/cto/5619876622.html http://images.craigslist.org/00l0l_h...Aq_600x450.jpg |

i've seen people just throw in the cheapest gaskets and a timing belt available and that's it for less than what your friend paid just to get rid of the thing so that it lasted long enough for the coolant not to turn into porridge before the buyer drove off with it. my old man memory also cannot remember if the head studs were replaced as well. the mechanic that worked on my dad's forester pretty much did everything including the kitchen sink because he didn't want us to come back with it leaking again. he was adamant about checking the heads and sure enough both of them were warped to some degree and had to be decked, which added to the final cost. |

http://assets.hemmings.com/story_ima...0@2x.jpg?rev=2 it might explain why there are no oem side skirts and the chopped off sides on the front lip? |
Only way to know about the 00 is to get it inspected I guess, same with the 98 and it's fuel sensor issue. My plan is to take the 98 for an initial test drive and if that goes over well i'll take it to be inspected. Do you guys think I would be able to offer a little lower than he is asking (4800), I am able to buy it as is but if I could save some money that would be cool is all. |
