Seriously.
Buy a cayman at that price or a boxster if you want the top down.

It's only in BC. Look across Canada and you can pick the same S2000 up across Canada for High teens to low 20's. Nobody winter drives these things too so regardless of buying in Ontario, Alberta, Quebec etc they generally seem spotless. It's pretty lulzy that people here think their s2000's are suddenly a Type R numbered car worth more than MSRP with 100,000km.

The MSRP of s2ks here was 50k.

What's even more lulzy is the fact that people are willing to spend more money on ITRs than s2ks, when the Integra is truly just a fun but buzzy fwd Honda (and I say this as the owner of one).

Get this instead, 06 Z4m roadster (https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/nvn/...398220961.html)

As someone who currently has an S2K CR and previously had a z4m coupe, this thing is LOADS of fun for what you get. I know, comparing apples to oranges but without paying for the premium of the S2k this is probably as close as you can get with top down fun.

TouringTeg 12-03-2017 08:15 AM

I think all the Honda kids have grown up and are driving up demand for S2K and ITR. NSX is out of reach for many.

I owned an AP2 and now ITR. The ITR is my personal preference for a variety of reasons mainly nostalgia and the need for a back seat for my two young daughters.

Lol as if your occupation has anything to do with how you drive. Of course a lawyer would never lie about something live that.

$10K for a 2000 S2K with only 136k KMs. Seller says needs a bit of work but doesn't specify. Could be a nice deal depending on what a "bit of work" means.

fliptuner 12-03-2017 09:54 AM

^^^ Just checked. Sold.

TouringTeg 12-03-2017 10:02 AM

^ that one was up for sale for a few weeks before it sold. It was on usedvic and posted here. Apparently it needed $3000 worth of cylinder head work.

TBH with the prices of crusty hilux/4runners and landcruisers nowadays, I'd contemplate one of those if I hadn't gone back to school. Just like S2Ks, ITRs, STIs and almost every vintage project car in town, everyone seems to think that rust = patina = gold

people pay stupid amounts for a Type-R...i'd say it's the more special of the two

can't say I've seen the S2000 actually sell for $30-40k even if they're hard to come by

I considered one just before they started climbing in price...but a convertible just doesn't make sense here unless it's purely a summer/track toy

don't even consider a hardtop viable because they're rarer than the cars themselves

Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I'm unsure how an ITR -- which, let's face it, is just a slightly stiffer economy car chassis with a revvier motor -- is more special than a completely unique platform with an equally revvy but more powerful motor that was essentially Honda's swan song.

What's driving the ITR craze now is pure nostalgia and the fact that there aren't many in OEM shape anymore.

It's like art. Someone decides they're willing to pay a bunch for something, and then it suddenly becomes "worth" that amount and everyone follows suit.

With ITRs going for $25K to $30K and S2000 for $35K+, made me think, sure Caymans, Boxters, and Z4Ms are better value. But in the spirit of lightweight performance, a Lotus Elise is in the same price range. It is the epitome of a pure sports car.

2006 Lotus Elise $42.5K

2006 Lotus Elise - CHILLIWACK $42,500 | autoTRADER.ca

moldex 12-04-2017 09:05 AM

Y'all need to stop posting s2ks on here and let the hype die. 30k+ for an ap2 is not a deal.

The Elise is an excellent example of what in my opinion will be a highly collectible car, but a good example is going to be mid 40s and up - it's not quite the same pricepoint as a Z4M or S2k.

Biggest difference is, the Elise isn't and can't pretend to be anything other than a pure sports car. I wouldn't even want to do a grocery store side trip on the way home with one.
:okay:

Another potential danger in the Lower Mainland are the idiot drivers. Apparently, because of the materials and difficulty of repairs, even common fender benders that are easy and typical for other cars can write off an Elise. :(

Anyone know the story on this? 2002 E46 M3 6MT with 184xxx that's priced like a SMG (19.5K on CL)

Also posted in Auto Trader for 18.5K (price dropped)
