Mileage a little high, but the shell looks good in the pictures. A 4 door Integra like this was my highschool dream car, and I came close to buying one.

Haven't seen a low mileage, maintained, good color example for reasonable price in a ages

Took a trip to Pemberton to check this out with my brother who is looking for an E39 M5.

He passed on the car because it is in pretty rough shape - cracked bumper, peeling clear coat, plenty of dings, a few 4+ inch scrapes and a rear door hit. Owner only disclosed some of this damage before seeing the car. He said in the ad that the car was mechanically strong but on the test drive the engine was misfiring and the traction control was stuck off. Engine also had a slight bottom end tick on idle. No service history or receipts at all. Cheapest ironman tires on non original wheels.

The owner seemed nice enough and it's still a good car for a daily driver M5 if fixed mechanically but the price needs to come way down. Not worth to do the body work, especially for a 2000 car. The only good things about this car is that the Carproof is clean, two owners and the KMs are pretty low. The two tone seats are pretty nice. The 2nd owner only had it for 4 months - bought as a fixer upper from the first owner as the car wasn't running before.

Sucks you had to travel all the way up there for that, I guess it was too good to be true at that price.

Jesus what a horror story... and who was the goof here that was vouching for his honesty and integrity? Lol

Nm I missed the follow up post... 2 lemans blue m5’s in Pemberton... who knew

richardmozis 12-22-2017 05:50 PM

The car is only worth max 30k CAD fully fixed up and looking mint. It’s not a 2002-2003, which is worth way more. We assumed it would need 10k to fix up but in person it looks more like 15k+ at least. Then there are the mechanical issues.

Also, they said it was a different person on the last page, not this guy.

Uh, for $25k that is suppose to be a very mint driver. That beat to shit car is maybe 12k

TouringTeg 12-22-2017 08:59 PM

What a mess. It has had a very hard 87kms. Needs a little more than touch ups...

"Still very presentable as a daily driver but will need paint touch ups before it's a collectable."

anyone fill me in on why the E39 m5 are so expensive? Is there something special about it? You can almost pick up a E60 M5 for that price.

bcrdukes 12-23-2017 10:27 AM

There are a lot of reasons, but the primary ones are:

1. According to most "enthusiasts" the E39 M5 was the "last" of the best M5s.*
2. The E60 M5 is a pretty unreliable pile of trash.
3. Chris Bangle

*Everyone has their own interpretation of this, so YMMV.

An E60 M5 is worth quite a bit less than the equivalent E39 M5.

Prices have crashed pretty hard with the E60 M5 recently.

I have owned an E39 M5 and have worked on a few E60 M5. They are both unreliable and expensive to upkeep. But the E60 is more unreliable and more expensive in almost every way. I think the e60 looks ugly compared to the e39 but that is subjective. What I can say is that in terms of paint, materials usage, and build quality, the exterior and interior of the e39 has better wear characteristics and feels more durable. One of the biggest reasons I think the e60 fails so hard is the auto transmission. The shifts are awkward if you drive it like an auto. It is also prone to have expensive failures. The e60 fuel tank is also smaller than the e39 but the v10 burns more fuel. I found that quite annoying having to fill up every 250 km. 6MT ones seems to be holding value like the E39 M5 if you can find one.

Wow that m5 is fucked.
Seriously I bet you'd spend 25k on it after the purchase price before you knew what happened.
As Ian said, thats a 10-12k car.

bcrdukes 12-23-2017 02:05 PM

I would say even $10K is generous. :heckno:

What's the big advantage on the facelift anyway? Isn't it just headlights?

Headlights, taillights, a newer looking interior, better VANOS components, updated piston rings and a few other minor things.

Edit: This facelift C63 seems like a good buy if it all checks out as someone posted a rebuilt one here for more money a few pages back.

^^^ that interior is awesome. Love the 2 tone

Having sold 2 e39 M5s in the last few years, last one a few months ago, that MY2000 one was worth maybe 12k, like someone else said.

At least in Vancouver, all the e39's are posted really high, but the amount of actual interest in them seems to be pretty low.
