Price is too good to be true. Place my bet that its likely a fake ad.

There was also an E46 m3 today for $2700. I didn't post it because I'm not an idiot and it's obviously fake.

Some people on this thread need to use a bit of common sense and quit posting obviously fake ads on every page

It's cheap because it's a basic bitch 6spd manual with higher kms from a shop with very little brand reputation and there is the perception that these cars cost a fair bit to keep running between throttle body related stuff and the possibility of rod bearing issues.

I'm pretty sure it was by a private owner.

bcuzracecarz 03-01-2018 06:51 PM

With the manual 08's, make sure the clutch has been updated when the kms get higher. Huge cost to replace since they have to update to the 09-12 clutch, which isn't just a simple swap. Can be $$$

How can you tell? I totally missed that. Eh I've heard horror stories about JDM Benz'.

westopher 03-02-2018 05:08 AM

That rear plate mount seems to be on every JDM car. That’s what I usually look for. Seems like a stupid way but I haven’t seen it be wrong yet.

Lol i love how people discredit a Benz or Beemer just cause its JDM. You know it's still made in Germany right? Just go get it inspected and see for yourself

Point to be made - overall people take much better care of cars in Japan than they do here. And yes, I speak this from experience

I drove one recently, fairly low km around 100k. Wow, did it not feel good. It looked in just fine condition, but it’s just how Mercedes of that era are. I always liked that car so it was sort of a ‘don’t meet your hero’ situation. Suspension was soft, steering vague, it felt like things are just waiting to break. The next e55 is leagues better.

Just my opinion though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't even think they sold 99 e55 in canada. I'd say most of the ones you see for sale are jdm, they're just cheap and plentiful over there. I'd consider it a bit of a red flag that the ad doesn't mention its from Japan

1. AMGs are not cheap anywhere, and in Japan these E55s still go for 250,000-350,000 yen (3 - 4,2K).
2. Definitely not plentiful

Do you think cars are free there or something? lol christ

tofu1413 03-02-2018 10:41 AM

rear plate bracket and lack of the amber corners on the front bumper sides.
