I think theres a deposit on it now.

TouringTeg 04-17-2018 12:41 PM

$5000 is a great deal. The one in Victoria $6500 and has 275kms

I tossed the DC2 GSR air intake box that came with my ITR a few years ago. Different size tube. That was dumb. :stupid:

tofu1413 04-17-2018 01:14 PM

some of those OEM parts are money.

remember those DC2 OEM valences? were worthless a few years back.... now theyre gold.

same with those mugen Gen 1 wings. no one wanted them!!

teggy604 04-17-2018 02:17 PM

https://honda-tech.com/articles/mark...ce-at-auction/

sold for $22750 US.

tofu1413 04-17-2018 02:18 PM

TouringTeg 04-17-2018 02:26 PM

EM1 thread. Gonna watch this one !

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1999-honda-civic-13/

We need a golden era Honda swap and shop thread. I have a stock DC2 GSR CD player. Also some rough 16" Prelude blade rims.

I'm looking for a winter car, something that's a wagon or hatchback. Was originally looking at 2006-2010 generation Mazda 5's, but then this caught my eye. As a non-mechanically savvy person, and somebody who's never owned a BMW before, will I hate myself if I get this?

E46 325i Touring with 160k, $7k obo (seems a bit pricey to me though)

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...563312882.html

tofu1413 04-17-2018 03:40 PM

you will hate life itself immediately (semi serious)

but itll be a great drive when its not broken. (also semi serious)

Damn, I love the Blue pearl color. Nothing beats the VTEC crossover like a B16A2.

Might be westophers? Don't remember if he has a PFL or FL. Tofu highlighted a key point, "when its not broken" LOL. You will hate yourself when you're trying the fix the damn thing, but you'll love driving it. It's worth it, but i'm bias.

I can't speak to the touring or the 325 (m54b25) directly, only e46 in general. Driving wise, it seems like a 325 has more midrange than a 330. But if you think you're gonna get better fuel economy driving a 325 rather than a 330, think again. I'm not mechanically inclined either, but I wanted to learn, and believe me an e46 will force you to learn LOL. I think the price is pretty decent, considering the mileage.

I would check how recent a cooling refresh has been done. Seeing that it's automatic, I'd check on the condition of the fan clutch too, those have been known to blow up through your hood L O L. But also seeing that it's automatic, facelifted, a wagon, and 325, you probably don't have to worry about subframe. Oil changes, spark plug replacement, etc, are super easy on this car. I'd go as far to say that even a full cooling refresh is pretty simple too.

westopher 04-17-2018 04:11 PM

Not mine. Mine is a 323i with sport pack. Currently dealing with electrical issues.

oh. I thought you had an 32_it (wagon). Good to hear it's not up for sale, i'm looking forward to seeing the swaps.

Edit: No wonder you want a m54b30, 2.3L doesn't seem quite enough for a wagon.. or a sedan.

westopher 04-17-2018 04:24 PM

Now that I know it’s not drivetrain related a swap isn’t in the cards. Just gonna fix and drive it.

tofu1413 04-17-2018 04:25 PM

E46 ownership will require some reading and head scratching.

but on the odd day that everything is sorted out...... well almost everything, it'll be a great drive.

still such a handsome looking car and if the right amount of maintenance and monies is spent on it, its a nice car to own.

MaceWindu 04-17-2018 04:42 PM

:okay: will think about it but might end up going back to looking at Mazda 5s lol

Would you not be interested in an AWD if it is for winter? At least an xi version?
Or, maybe a Subaru wagon (price listed somewhat high but you can definitely talk this down, it's at an off brand dealer)
2005 Legacy GT Wagon 93K kms, $13K
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...560221252.html

Or a 2009 Forester XT, no kms listed, $10K
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...541909172.html

Those are a bit above my budget, I was looking to spend max $6k, so even the $7k on the E46 was already. If anyone else is interested in the Forester though, it's got 205k km

2009 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT Limited at $9988 for sale in Richmond - Auto Direct

westopher 04-17-2018 04:54 PM

While I can't speak for subaru ownership, I can tell you the RWD touring with my good set of snows was fantastic this year in deep snow and shitty slushy roads. I grew up in alberta though, so experience in the snow helps far more than the right car to be honest.

Do you have to have 2 rear doors, and fit 5 people comfortably?

My friend sold his ep3 for 6.3, some might be less than that. EP3s are reliable, good on gas, and the same friend managed to fit a tent and other camping stuff in his.

While this probably isn't anyone's cup of tea..It is 300 bucks

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/...564161475.html

Supposedly a good engine and tranny. Could be my opportunity to build a hooning sled (if it's still for sale at the end of the month when I move back)

Would something like this do? 2007 Impreza wagon, 203K kms, $4200. You have money for any stage 0 maintenance.
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/nvn/...562223457.html

https://images.craigslist.org/00w0w_...NK_600x450.jpg

Or, if you want to stay in the Mazda family, 07 CX7, 194K kms, $6550
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/...543070818.html

https://images.craigslist.org/00Z0Z_...ak_600x450.jpg

Or, the obvious Honda CRV or Rav4

Probably should, this winter car is basically the answer to the shortcomings of an S2000 lol

Yea something like that, but I'd be a little more comfortable with something lower mileage (my CL searches all cap it at 160k), doesn't have to be AWD though. And if I'm nitpicking, the early to mid 2000s Subie interiors are a bit of a turnoff for me :( but I appreciate the links you've provided me with

Edit:

I think I'll try to go check out something like these:

2003 CRV 148k $4,950
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/...564044554.html

2007 Mazda 5 148k $6,000
