Ah, it’s tough to access? That’s not great. I’d suspect a fan would get burnt out pretty quick as vehicle speeds are constantly fighting against it. Maybe some sort of flap can be quickly and easily accessed? If you can access the rear of the cooler, a block off plate their would work 99.5% as well.

Yeah it's closed in on all sides, the bumper is in front, the cooling tray is above, the rad is behind and the undertray is below.

Hey all mechanics, backyard mechanics and DIY'ers - hoping you can tell if this is a brake pad/rotor problem by this video?

2007 Honda Fit. Grinding noise when applying brakes, it sounds to be based on the rotation and only makes noise when braking. You will hear in the video the distinct grinding noise. Passenger side only. Rotors are at 21mm (minimum 20mm) and pads are 4mm remaining, age is unknown though. I'm going to guess rotor/pad replacement?

edit: forgot to include there is no loss in braking, no pulsing, no vibrating in brakes or steering wheel.

Let's see what you guys think...

When driving on the road, any vibrations when braking? Doesn't sound like it's the low brake indicator that's making the noise. Sounds like warped rotors since the noise is inconsistent as it rotates.

Pull the calliper off and see if the pad backing plate is rubbing on the rotor hat.

Yes. Just replace the pads and rotors and make sure the pins are moving freely.

Good point, forgot to include there is no loss in braking, no pulsing, no vibrating in brakes or steering wheel.

Did you mean since the noise is CONSISTENT as it rotates?

^ I think they meant that when it rotates and the noise is not consistent continuously, then something is not straight or something is not aligned? Correct me if I am wrong. I need to learn how to do this too in later in the future.

I just did my own oil change for a 06 g35 and it was a hassle taking the under guard off and drain my oils.

Do you guys change your own transmission fluids?

It's probably just dust in the brakes or backing plate is rubbing. Unless you didn't check the inside pads and they're worn to the squealer.

We definitely checked the inside pads, I recall pulling both out because we inspected all of the the metal shims that kept the pads in place...

I guess i'll need to take a closer look behind the rotor to see if anything is rubbing.

Thanks for the tips guys!

If you take it apart again, give the pads a scuff with 80 grit and spray everything down with brake cleaner.

Been a bit of a dead thread for a while...

My 2007 TSX started up yesterday with all the warning lights flashing on the dash:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hlB...ew?usp=sharing

1) Any idea what this means?
2) Is it drivable to the shop or am I getting it towed?

I know nothing about those vehicles or modern systems like that but if it came out of
No where I’d do the old , control alt delete. Disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reconnect. You may need to set clocks and or need a radio code but that seems electrical or computer related to me! Next step, find someone with a code reader.

I would check the condition of the battery before doing anything else; low voltage causes all the sensors to freak out and they complain to the ECU.

^ That. With all the electronics and control modules these days a weak battery can cause a lot of pointless stress. Always check the battery health first if the issue isn't an obvious mechanical one.

Thanks, charged the battery with no luck and did the disconnect with no luck. Still spitting out the same errors.

Thanks for the offer. I went and ordered a reader a few hours ago, figured I should have one on hand.

Do you happen to have a voltmeter? Just because your battery is charged doesn’t mean it’s holding voltage. If you can, check the voltage of the system when the car is running, and off.

Got my OBD II reader and the car is spitting out a P0926 error code which indicates an issue with the gear shift reverse solenoid.

https://www.carobdcodes.com/p0926-ac...cuit-low.shtml

So not drivable to the shop?

That’s the only code? I’d drive it. You might not have reverse though. Lol.

Did the oil on our G37 last month, man beauty design for the filter/drain plug, easiest, cleanest oil change i've ever done

but yea, that rock guard is a pain, dunno how many bolts yours has but the 37 had like 15 bolts holding that guard in place? toughest part of the oil change

I don't even bother shipping small parts from RA, to the states. Just ship it straight to your door. You can get the price, right on the site.

Now, the CAD being shit....that's another story. Definitely call local suppliers to see if they're still competitive, after tax.
