So what so you guys think of this finale? Kinda anticlimactic but I think it was needed to be able to show what made him turn corrupt

jjson 04-06-2015 09:25 PM

in b4 that black guy's evo lol

twitchyzero 04-06-2015 10:03 PM

the show is stating the obvious...evo is nothing but a glorified grocery getter :troll:

Yeah, the finale didn't quite pack the punch that I was expecting. Gotta say a bit disappointed with it.

Vansterdam 04-07-2015 10:17 AM

it was meh

RRxtar 04-07-2015 04:57 PM

finale wasn't great entertainment wise. but you knew, at some point, they had to do an episode where he.... umm... breaks bad? i think it could have been written way better tho.

in any case, anyone know when season 2 starts?

also, I couldn't take marco seriously because I watched a handful of episodes of last man on earth before that show got lame.

Tr1ll 04-07-2015 05:19 PM

Kinda sad that Ernie's Evo was the highlight of the finale for me

hotjoint 04-07-2015 06:31 PM

Weak season finale but season 2 should start of good

SkinnyPupp 04-07-2015 07:19 PM

Season 2 better start soon after that lame finale :rukidding:

If people found it underwhelming, you're not digging deep enough.

This was the breaking point of Jimmy turning to the darkside. Throughout this entire season, we saw him start as Slippin' Jimmy and work his way to becoming Jimmy McGill. To pay Chuck back for taking a chance on him. To make Chuck proud. To prove Hamlin wrong. To catch Kim's eye. To not become Marco on that barstool. To make something of himself.

But after finding out the reveal about Chuck...feeling lower than low...losing his case and worse, his own brother...it broke him down. He loses it with his amazing "Kitty Cat Notebooks for Everybody" monologue and goes back to his roots.

Here he revisits his Slippin' Jimmy and not 10 minutes in falls perfectly back in step with Marco. Skirting the law again. Hasn't missed a beat. Just as good as he always was....if not better. Marco and Jimmy in perfect harmony, making suckers out of 'em all. And then he loses Marco.

Chuck is gone. Marco is gone. Both sides of that coin...both of his brothers...for both there's now this emptiness.

But here comes Kim to save the day! There's hope! Everything might just turn out ok. In yet another brilliant piece of cinematography...we see a shot of Jimmy outside the courthouse...he stops dead in his tracks "Looking East." A perfect profile of what he'd look like on that Kennedy coin. A new dawn. JUST THEN....he feels Marco's pinky ring. A reminder that....ya know what?

He just had the best week of his life too.

Why fight this anymore? For who? Chuck? Kim? Hamlin? Maybe. But that rush...that feeling he had with Marco...

Why not both?

And thus, the seeds for Saul have been planted. It's not an ambiguous ending. It's the beginning of Saul Goodman.

I may be reading way too in to their cinematography (but to be fair...they're pretty deliberate with it.) The final shot is of Jimmy driving "west" if you will ...away from the promise of a new path at the courthouse. And we pan down to the exact middle of the road....

He may be straddling the line between Jimmy and Saul...but he's now on his way.

tl;dr - If you dig deeper, it's not an ambiguous / underwhelming ending. It's an emotionally powerful ballad on a Shakespearean level...and now I can't tell up from down because I think I may be starting to like Better Call Saul better than Breaking Bad.

That's wicked!

I didn't dissect it that much, but my thinking through all this whining has been, "come on guys, we know Vince better than that by now."

murd0c 04-08-2015 08:18 AM

That makes complete sense

white rocket 04-08-2015 09:39 AM

Non climactic but tons of cool little easter egg type stuff. That Kevin Costner reference was brilliant! This show has the makings to be an all-time great.

I think it's funny that shows/movies seems to depict owners of tuner cars as geeks or dweebs. What's up with that?

There's nothing there that wasn't completely obvious in the show. It just didn't make a big impact like we're used to in season enders from Vince Gilligan...

To be fair, the whole show is much more subtle than BB, so I guess this should be expected. Most of my disappointment comes from the fact that there won't be another episode next week, and I have no idea when the next one will be.

6 month is reasonable
remember when breaking bad breaks were a year...especially when they split season 5 up and hank was taking a shit for 13 months :rukidding:

Thankfully I don't remember that because I didn't get into BB until after the whole series was over :fuckyea:

ZN6 04-09-2015 08:53 AM

It's the slow knife that cuts the deepest.

If all the fireworks are set off in the first seasons, what's left going forward? The series is really limited by the time between itself and breaking bad, so there's that constraint.

I rather have a show that is consistently great, than have a show excellent to start off with then becomes shit afterwards with a completely bombed ending. *Cough* Dexter *Cough*

white rocket 04-09-2015 10:30 AM

I think there is still ample time to get a few more seasons out of this show. We're still like 5-6 years apart now aren't we? BB was 5 seasons(6 if you count the split) and it was only a 2.5 year timeline.

chin3se604 04-09-2015 02:34 PM

^ and then post BB ... yeaah!
