the previews at the end of this episode are making the rest of the season look like they're going to be good!

I wish it was more than 10 episodes per season tho. That's almost 10 months between seasons! Breaking Bad (after season 1) was 13-16. Walking Dead is 16 (split). It moves so slow for only 10 episodes.

snowball 03-15-2016 10:30 PM

I hope they start picking up the pace soon, I really care about Jimmy and Kim's characters but they're going way too slow

If I don't compare BCS to BB it's an awesome character centered show, but I went back and watched a few episodes of BB today and BCS is definitely missing the moments that make you say "wow"

So far the only "wow" moments in BCS have been throwbacks to BB characters a la tio

twitchyzero 03-15-2016 11:19 PM

much of season 3 and 4 of breaking bad were also really slow...but the writers make it worth it in the end...we'll see if that happens here.

IGN did an interview with michael mando who plays nacho and i really liked his answer

Quote:

IGN: I've always sort of viewed it as Breaking Bad's mythology. Yes, it is set in our own world and not some other fantasy reality, but there's the sense that the world is much bigger than what we're seeing on the screen.

Mando: I've always felt like Vince Gilligan bought this piece of land, and he built this great, beautiful building called Breaking Bad. Then he got the right to build another building right next to it, and that building is called Better Call Saul. Better Call Saul is on the second floor, whereas Breaking Bad, they've already built six floors. And there's secret tunnels, underground pathways, shared rooms, shared elevators of these two buildings.

They're completely standalone, they have their own foundations, but they have all these interconnected pathways that are being built. Hopefully, when Better Call Saul comes to its final season, those two buildings will stand beautifully next to each other and you can get lost inside of them and go from one to another and back and forth without ever feeling that you're losing a thread of what's going on.

I'm really ok with it moving at the pace it currently is, it's all about character building and telling the story and I think it's being done perfectly so far. There are so many shows these days that move quickly and huge shocks every week but with better Call Saul they don't need that since it's all about the shock at the end and the little twists that tie everything together.

Great episode today, it was actually pretty funny, finally something to balance out Mike's story.

twitchyzero 03-29-2016 10:08 PM

it was fantastic
good montage as always...and that final scene was well done (the dialogue, and the way the camera framed Jimmy holding the ripped business card)
maybe we'll see his better call saul tagline real soon

murd0c 03-30-2016 07:13 AM

I loved when he decided to go with the flashy suits to get fired and you can see him changing slowly which I think have been done perfectly so far. Sucks only 3 episodes left of the season.

Maybe it's just me, but is Kaley getting older as time goes backwards?? Like, she seemed a lot younger in Breaking Bad but maybe because she didn't have many lines.

Anyway, those twins from BB, damn they scary. Those skull boots are styling as fuck.

Yeah, this is one of the things that was noticed from the very beginning of BCS.

Even though BCS is supposed to happen like seven years before BB, Kaley is younger in BB than BCS.

twitchyzero 03-30-2016 08:00 PM

oh what...I forgot there's only 10 episodes per season...I thought it was the standard 13 on AMC

yeah and despite being a sequel Mike looks tired and old as hell despite supposedly being 6 or 8 years younger. Nitpicking for sure but everything else seems pretty period correct (Hummer H2)

mm from an old interview the twins aren't even actors...they were security guards on a previous set that just looked downright menancing and got casted. I don't think they ever really had a line in breaking bad either.

RRxtar 03-30-2016 08:49 PM

this may come as a surprise to some of us. but it is difficult to make both a 10 year old girl, and a 69 year old man, not appear older, when BB started in 2009 (7 years ago) and BCS supposedly took place 5 years before that. 12 years total gap. heh

Well, Kaley isn't played by the same actress in BB and BCS, so the point is moot for her... but it's true for Jonathan Banks.

Banks, I understand because he has to be played by the same guy we all come to know. But definitely the producers could cast a girl to be more chronologically correct to play Kaley.

white rocket 03-31-2016 02:55 PM

yeah, what's up with Kaley and the age gap? I understand Mike because he's old. Once you're old, you're old. But Kaley? She was playing at a playground close to the end of BB(2011?) yet here were are in the early 2000's and she's the same age?

RRxtar 03-31-2016 06:50 PM

i guess because she would be sperm if it was true time line. and maybe she will play a more important roll in BCS so they needed a character that would be more than just an infant.

Well here's Kaley season 5 of BB, and season 2 of BCS

You be the judge.

spoon.ek9 04-01-2016 04:36 AM

did you guys not notice crazy 8 in the previous episode? lol

white rocket 04-12-2016 10:03 PM

Well that ended abruptly

murd0c 04-12-2016 10:12 PM

next week is the season finale, I can't wait to find out what happens but still these 10 episode season's really suck

white rocket 04-13-2016 07:26 AM

Agreed. The story starts ramping up then BOOM, over.

twitchyzero 04-14-2016 07:58 AM

:derp: moment haven't been paying much attn to mike's story

Because tio threated his granddaughter and now he's going to take down the whole operation.

jerche 04-14-2016 10:54 AM

IIRC, Tio started in a wheelchair in BB? Maybe this is a story of how he got there.

twitchyzero 04-14-2016 09:04 PM

who knows...because Tio lost his speech too

SkinnyPupp 04-15-2016 01:11 AM

This show is so fucking good. I love the slow burn.. Problem with a slow burn though is that there's only 10 fucking episodes :seriously:
