No cop will ticket for not having a front plate if you were never issued one (AKA Alberta).

But the law is the law and the police are around to uphold them. Front tint is dangerous in every conceivable way and must be removed and the driver penalized (at least according to the law).

Yeah? You, your no-life post count, and ugly eyesore blue wrap-job on your SUV are stupid too.

Screw you guys who saw the opportunity to take cheapshots at me and decided to chime in. I thought RS would be a little more supportive of a fellow member trying to get some equality for something that police officers can "use their discretion for".

I'm done with this topic. I've been trying to keep professional about this until now, and you guys throw in your keyboard warrior comments without any courtesy. Would you really have a discussion like that if it were in person? I thought the Police Forum would be a little more civil.

My join date obviously shows I'm not some fucking young little kid with time to waste on this. Done with this issue, fuck this.

Hell no! I survived 28 years on the job...including a 3 day riot in Quebec where I was set on fire with napalm, had 2 different people try to kill me with knives and drove/rode at +200kmh speeds at various times in emergencies. I now teach people to ride & drive for a living. So far on this job, nobody has deliberately tried to kill me on purpose. If I was mature and held to a higher standard there would be no payback for life at all. Your turn....

Really we are the one taking cheap shots?

I didn't even say anything to you, I just pointed out to Soundy that someones join date has no correlation to their intelligence level.

But thanks for the comments on my vehicle, I really value the opinion of someone who just got sand whipped in their vagina from a bunch of "keyboard warriors".

For the record, what I told you on the first page of this thread would have been a lot less polite had it been a face to face conversation with a friend. In fact I probably would have laughed them out the fucking door if they told me they were going to waste a bunch of their time, trying to save $100 on some ticket (which they deserved), using bullshit excuses like "yeah but my friend only got a warning", or "I deserve less of a fine because I am too lazy to take off the tint myself, and I had to pay someone $60 to do it for me".

Spoiler!

Sorry you thanked the post, didn't notice it wasn't you I quoted.

It was T4RAWR.

Regardless whatever, water under the bridge, can't say I've never had my jimmies rustled like OP did. But attacking my car no matter how gaudy and distasteful it is, is a low blow.

We can't all afford nice cars...

Either way, i'm over it. Siggy removed.

Not sheriff serious but that's definitely not an aftermarket tint (you would see the border of the tint if it was after market).

is that your TL? My honda accord has a very light blue/green tint as well, I can only assume it's for UV protection so the interior / leather doesn't fade. Merc's do something similar, but their tint is a little less subtle

That was why I got my tint ticket cause the officer shone a light through at night and saw that there was a greenish tinge. When I made an appointment to see him and his supervisor, what he did was feel the top of the half open window and said there was no film tint so it's fine.

The thousands of small pieces the tempered glass breaks into can still have some very sharp edges. Having that fly at you at a high velocity can easily cut you up.

The fact that many US states allow front side window tint also shows that the "broken glass" factor so often cited up in Canada isn't much of an issue.

I don't know how we became so anal about a little cling film on the front side windows up here but it's ridiculous.

The picture of the OP's car clearly shows that the driver is visible to people outside the car. I find dark front side glass to be very annoying when I can't make eye contact with the driver.
I'll take a few pieces of glass bouncing off my over a sheet of the stuff hitting me any day.

Yeah its the TL. Was just curious haha. Its actually pretty blue in sunlight. Wonder if it actually does anything for like heat repel or UV.

It doesn't bounce off of you.

Small, linear, angulated injuries created by characteristic cube-shaped fragments of tempered glass:

1. That's gross, spoiler that shit.
2. Unless the guy was standing next to a bomb shielding himself with tempered glass there is no way they would get pushed into your skin like that.

I had my side window smashed in my face at a redlight (long story, but the guy had major road rage).

And the glass did "Bounce off me". I was perfectly fine.

The text that went with that image:

Quote:
Modern vehicles have tempered glass -- specially heat-treated glass designed to break into small cubes on impact -- in the side windows. When the occupant impacts and breaks these windows, or an impact breaks the glass and propels the fragments, characteristic marks are left on the skin. These marks are generally linear or angulated, and approximately 1/4 are superficial injuries, as shown in the image below. Although they are glass injuries and largely incised wounds, these wounds typically also have an abraded component, because the skin may impact the flat window before its shattering.

I don't see any glass embedded in the skin, so yes it bounced off. Regardless, that person has a lot fewer cuts than if all the glass was held together in a sheet and they hit it, it would be like sliding along a sheet of razor blades.

If you cut yourself with a knife does it stay in you?

The point is, tintless glass is every bit as dangerous.

And again, why are they now laminating glass on front side windows if having the glass stay together is so dangerous?

The fact that you are even comparing laminating glass, to tinting glass is ridiculous.

If that is your best argument for why window tint should be legal you are not going to get much traction.

Your better off with the "it's a pointless law argument".
