Smash Up is a fun game too. Eight different factions of creatures that you can use to win the game.

+1 bang especially 7-8man expansion , catan with 5 - 6 man expansion, cards against humanity

Yes.

Settlers man. Just got the Cities and Knights expansion. Planning on playing with some friends this weekend.

Risk. Awesome game, a classic. Most definitely will end in people being upset if you play with really competitive people.

CAH. Great pickup and play game if your just chilling out.

Jenga. Greatest drinking game, we built a life size block set out of some hardwood. Nothing like a 4x4 fence post landing on your head to make a game interesting.

There is a restaurant in gastown where you can eat and play games with buddies. Super entertaining, some people here need to try it out.

Pretty much has been said in this thread.

Pandemic, Settlers of Catan, Risk. The Game of Thrones board game is pretty fun too.

I play jenga as a drinking game. If you pull one out and place it clean you give a drink.. If you knock it over you have to finish a full drink!! Good times!!

been meaning to grab a set of Jenga so I can make my own drinking game written on each block :)

Acquire is awesome game. If you're into strategic games involving acquisitions of smaller entities then this is for you.

Been playing Blokus with my niece over the holidays, really makes the kids think without them realizing it (adults too). It's like a variation of Tetris but on a board.

Settlers of Catan is really fun. Played quite a few times.

There's also Dominion if you haven't tried it (more of a card game though). I hear Ticket to Ride is really fun too.

Chess games are the best. Western chess is cool, but Xiang Qi (Chinese Chess) and Shogi (Japanese Chess) are superior, IMHO.

threezero 01-08-2015 11:49 AM

^ I like chess game and variation of that but its really only a 2 people game, not very social when you have 4+ ppl over.

I been playing a lot of board games or card grams with friend for the past few months. we started out with uno than we move on the monopoly the card game (very different from the board game, a lot more strategy a must play for all monopoly fanes) and than we recently brought ourselve the actual monopoly board game to play with.

looking to check out bang! next and its chinese variation.

where do you guys shop for board games and card games? they are so expensive brand new

I love BANG! but some of the characters are really overpowered/broken

I really REALLY enjoy Powergrid, especially the expansions. My bro says there is a new expansion to have an India map, with power outages

I also enjoy Blockus, this get nasty mid to late game

I've played Settlers once, so I can't give a full judgement of it, but it's fun.

I'm wanting to get Pandemic, I hear good things about it.

Good simple games are Monopoly Deal. Very easy to play, and fun. I don't enjoy Millionaire edition.

What don't you like about it?? Just out of curiousity.. I have it too and I find I get bored with it but it's easier to keep track of money with the little debit machine.

Nope I prefer having massive stacks...:fuckyea:

Seriously though I ain't ever playing monopoly again. Takes way too fucking long.

Also when was the last time someone watched this:

Spoiler!

RCubed 01-08-2015 01:30 PM

Zombicide is really fun as a co-op board game. (Longer gaming sessions)
King of Tokyo/NY (Quicker sessions)
Ticket to ride

Millionaire Edition is really really random. It's too much luck involved and there is much less strategy. When it comes down to a player having about $800k, the money just jumps from one player to the other almost non-stop.

I've had a copy of this for years, but haven't gotten around to pulling it out when friends are over. Really should play it at some point.
