Good simple games are Monopoly Deal. Very easy to play, and fun. I don't enjoy Millionaire edition.

Monopoly deal is a good one, even though it tends to end with a shouting match and hurt feelings when my friends and I play. :lawl:

I've had a copy of this for years, but haven't gotten around to pulling it out when friends are over. Really should play it at some point.

You probably played it in black and white :troll:

Nothing beats a good board game night with family. It's a shame my sisters and cousins are all too attached to their phones. Even a game or two of cribbage...crazy how no one has interest in things like this or sees any fun in it....rather flick threw Instagram for hours

I love crib, I'm trying to teach my bf how to play

Awesome game from my growing up. Learn to pay your bills and taxes.

Backgammon is a favourite when I hang with the family.

kkttsang 01-09-2015 11:21 AM

Any good games for two people. For the quiet nights with the wife. We play monopoly deal just the two of us and it still fun. Also the two person version of settlers but not as fun as real settlers. Anyone know of any other good 2 player games

Godzira 01-09-2015 11:24 AM

spent my day at work watching a quite a few of those tabletop videos. Munchkin and Tokaido seems pretty fun.

We played Jenga for drinks over the holidays. It got out of hand really quickly and needless to say we were shitfaced lol

starlitcitadel.com for a great local site to buy board games. Their warehouse is located in Vancouver; therefore you can just pick up the games at their warehouse instead of paying for shipping.

Stratego is one of my favourites for two players

used to love board games as a kid would play them all the time with family

then during the holidays in my teens my cousins and I would create our own turn based war games and we'd spend an hour or so drawing up our own pieces and spending the night playing....hmm we should probably try and sell our games... we had so many awesome ones, i kept all my pieces too!

Ended up getting King of Tokyo today after hearing about it from coworkers.

Anyone know of any good 2 player board games that I can play with the wife when it's just us two?

lady_mapetite 01-12-2015 08:02 PM

great thread!

i also like playing strategic games so was instantly hooked on settlers of catan but at big gatherings we usually play cards against humanity cause everyone can participate. other favourites are risk, citadels, chinese checkers and monopoly deal

i finally got around to learn how to play go (aka weiqi, igo, baduk). 2 player game and the goal is to surround your opponent's pieces/stones using your own. i love the fact that it's such a simple yet complicated and dynamic game but sigh my learning curve has gone downhill... kinda wished i had learned this before learning chinese chess *sadface*

mancala is also a fun 2 player game.. i suggest friends to use this game to teach their young kids how to count and develop their basic math skills

This is a must buy game for drinking nights. Its a 4 player kids game but its hilarious as a drinking game.

Another good game is Wits n Wagers

Monopoly and Risk!

Matsuda 01-13-2015 12:22 AM

Catan, Blokus,

Munchkin is a good game to play with friends and you can get expansion/themed packs.

Carcassonne is a good game too and you can play it with 2 players too

Not a board game guy...at ALL. But I love Risk. When an alliance goes to shit, that's when the fun starts.

FN-2199 01-13-2015 02:19 AM

I recently got into a bunch of board/card games this year with my friends after only knowing the classics (Monopoly, Scrabble, LIFE, etc.). To name a few, Coup, Resistance, Dominion, and Battlestar Galactica all come to mind as my faves.
Some of these take a few games to learn, but once you've gotten the hang of them it's a blast... until you get heated up lose a few friends from playing Resistance.

A cool one to check out is Boss Monster. 1-4 players, and each game is about 30 mins.

This was one of my favourite games as a kid. Think I'll try to find one to play with my own.

Holy shit. Maybe not. Wish I would have kept mine! Probably sold it at a garage sale for $4 or something... :okay:

EndLeSS8 01-13-2015 09:57 AM

Gonna be honest here.....

RISK sucks.

Ends up being a 10+ hour game because some guy always ends up turtling up in Australia, so the game ends up being a huge stalemate.

Cr33pUh 01-13-2015 11:48 AM

Can't stand games that last >1.5 hrs (monopoly, risks). I usually just give a crap after an hour as my attention span goes down the drain.

I also recently started playing board/card games as well.

Catan, Avalon, and Bang! are pretty fun. Looking to try out munchkin after watching tabletop.
