My biggest pet peeve is FB killing off forums, since forums were properly organized and could be searched, whereas on FB the info is lost forever.

Thats exactly it.....and the number of idiotic posts on FB pages.

So my 5th gen has slowly leaked oil for some time. In the last year though I am noticing a lot of black soot on the ground right below my exhaust which has never happened before. I don't seem to be going through anymore oil than I have in the past. Any thoughts on what has caused this?

Additionally I have noticed that randomly the engine feels like it almost cuts out for a brief second. Best way I can describe it is imagine you are accelerating hard and then quickly pull your foot of the gas. This typically is more noticeable after the car has been sitting for 8 or so hours.

Car currently has 315,xxxKms

Honda-tech and Preludepower, still pretty active. Them feels when your friends keep sending you pics of your old prelude rolling around the province after you've moved and sold the car :(

Are there any preludepower members on these forums?

i was for the last 5 years but i sold my lude now. Everything is on FB/IG nowadays lol

european 06-01-2016 02:32 PM

I'm not that active but pop on every now and then.
I miss my prelude very much

european 08-18-2016 02:51 PM

I saw a green show car, turbo H22 4th gen for sale on craigslist yesterday. The ad is no longer there. Wondering if this is still trying to be sold by original owner (Ryan, I think?) or someone else.

I so want it!

prudz 08-21-2016 04:26 PM

Did it have volk wheels, grey? Like a custom dark green? GT35R? I know that car very well if that is the one from all the prelude forums. I'm curious if it sold or if he pulled the add after 2nd thought.

european 08-21-2016 05:10 PM

yea, sounds about it.
Here is the original ad from the owner

VancouverPreludeClub.net ? View topic - show AND go prelude ready for a new home.

Not sure who the new owner is.... if there is one?

european 09-02-2016 02:06 PM

Just throwing it out there.........

Looking to get back into a Prelude... this time 4th gen. If anyone knows, has, seen or heard of one for sale, please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike

Hey thanks man
It'll be similar: recaros, spoon, mugen, JDM OEM, Rays, Regas, lip kit, Konis, H&R, Euro-R IM, 5 lug conversion, CF hood, new paint, track it a few times and tons of photos and videos. haha.
Still haven't found a red 4th gen that's decent in my eyes. I see a few pop up on CL every now and then but nothing that grabs my attention which makes me say TAKE MY MONEY!!!

DGN23 09-29-2016 04:10 PM

My 5th gen is about to bite the dust. Got 330k on it. It had a good run. Having a hell of a time deciding what to get next.

What do you mean by bite the dust? Something wrong with the engine, transmission or electrical and you can't fix it or don't want to pay someone to fix it? Too much rust on the body, if any? Please explain, I'm willing to help... if I can.

prudz 09-30-2016 01:20 PM

A part of me was sad watching you part out all the rare parts and return it to stock on pp.com but that really is all you can do these days to get decent money back. Every now and then I think about contacting the new owner of my old 4th gen. Then I remember how frustrating I found that car to be. Some 18-19 year old kid has it now. He has slowly been butchering it from what I see on his instagram account lol. Oh well I guess. It took me 2 years to find a sent of OEM ambers that weren't cracked and within a week of him owning it they were night shaded black as you can see in the above picture. Facepalmed.

Yes, it was a sad, sad day in my life. I still regret doing it but it had to be done.
Hopefully I'll find a decent SRV and have a little fun with it too.

Was this John's old car? Prelude2NV?

I keep hoping I run into my old car, but I never see it. Wonder what happened.

XplicitLuder 09-30-2016 03:40 PM

that green 4th gen was sold by the original owner, i am not sure if the current owner was trying to sell it though, haven't seen anything pop up. Good luck finding that perfect lude mike! I feel like its gonna be hard to find one rust free if you want one haha

Well the whole list off the top of my head:

Got a knocking noise coming from the engine. Been told its either a wrist pin or rod bearing. Car also goes through more oil than a Saudi billionaire. Put in a quart once a week or every time I fuel up. Also some small various leaks. Those don't really contribute much to the oil consumption but still an issue.

Rear suspension is making a knocking noise as well when going over even very minor bumps. Sounds like probably just bushings or something minor. Front suspension makes kind of a creaking noise when going over speed bumps in the cold weather.

Also sounds like my power steering motor is going but i'm not sure. When I back into my parking spot I turn the wheel to the right and then after I start moving I hear a kind of grinding noise. Makes a similar noise when doing the same thing but with the wheel turned to the left, only the noise isn't as pronounced.

Hood has a good rust spot developing on the hood and the rear fenders are getting rust spots.

That's the stuff I can think of right now. I'm probably going to keep it for a while and may repair it some other time. I have two parking stalls in my complex so I have free storage for it. But for right now I want to put the money towards something new. I've had this one for just over 10 years now. Time for a change.

Nope, that black srv with gold rims in the picture is my old prelude. I sold it about a year and a half ago. I built it from a stock pile of garbage. I originally bought it from Ontario and brought it to Alberta. It is still in Alberta to my knowledge.

european 10-06-2016 10:01 AM

^^
You can get all of that fixed... depending if you want to or not.
The easiest thing to do would be replacing all the seals that are contributing to the engine oil leak and replacing the rear suspension bushings along with the shock colar. The most expensive bill would most likely be the body work. Repairing rust usually requires a donor car
But if you don't think its worth repairing the vehicle, sell it and move on I guess?

Kasino 10-09-2016 11:10 PM

european, your lure looks awesome!!! do you still have any parts you would like to sell??

european 10-11-2016 01:01 PM

I only have a Spoon rear strut bar
And I think I still have the JDM rear ashtray

underscore 11-16-2016 11:19 PM

Well, my 5th gen is sold. I hated doing it, I even told the guy that I'd most likely buy it back if he ever wants to sell it. Now I need to sort through my spare parts and sell them.
