Prelude Owners?

Hey guys,

I'm curious to know how many Prelude owners are actually on this forum.
And if anybody would be interested in meeting up before spring revscene and rolling in together?

dahonga 02-28-2015 12:30 PM

There's probably only a handful left, seemed to really die out about five years ago. Especially on VPC, no one is even on there anymore.

Gregboat 02-28-2015 12:31 PM

ha no kidding, that forum gets about as much activity as a rock

do you drive a prelude?

dahonga 02-28-2015 12:35 PM

No not anymore, I sold it last month but I was pretty active in VPC and TPC before.

Gregboat 02-28-2015 12:44 PM

What are you driving now? I've got a 2001 EBP Prelude SE

BoostedBB6 02-28-2015 12:45 PM

I have a Prelude....but I dont ever drive it. Its for sale :P

matrixfwd 02-28-2015 04:04 PM

98 Prelude here. Where do you service it for things like brakes? Does your's also have a slight oil leak?

I change the oil myself and recently did a drain and fill of the ATF. It's got 103,000 KM

underscore 02-28-2015 04:26 PM

Got a 97 here, but I live in Kelowna and it too will likely be for sale soon (though it probably won't sell as we want a fair bit for it).

Had the same ride, traded it in for an Acura a few years back.. I do miss it here and there.

Honestly, if all your changing is pads, theres enough info on the web for you to do it yourself. If you want a shop to do it, take it to a smaller shop, they wont charge nearly as much as the dealership.

As for leaking oil, I do have a very minor sweating around my oil pressure switch, but thats it. She does burn a decent amount though (1/2 a litre every 2-3 weeks). Lucas Oil oil stabilizer has helped me reduce the burning.

Good on you for changing the ATF, the auto transmission is a grenade and definitely requires babying!

Also, just so you guys know, I'm going to be at the Richmond meet tomorrow night at 7pm at the Tim Horton's at Ironwood Plaza, if anybody's down swing by, it would be nice seeing more Prelude owners

Eatman 02-28-2015 07:41 PM

^post pics of your ride bro, would love to see them

Have one as well but it just hasn't been the way I wanted. Going to school full time and working part time leaves minimal to no money for the stuff I wanted to do to the car. But at the end of the day I've been in love with preludes since I was young so it's always nice to see some nice ones still on the road

Gregboat 03-01-2015 06:14 AM

I couldn't agree with you more man, I'm a full time Business student and I work 20 hours a week as well. It really does make modding a challenge, but its doable. Its all about being patient and not getting frustrated!

aj94 03-01-2015 08:51 AM

Your car is such a nice color, definitely my favorite for the prelude. Can't tell you how much time I spent looking for one just like it!

Gregboat 03-01-2015 11:02 AM

Thanks bro, it took me nearly six months to find a Prelude in EBP, sadly its the sportshift, but I am considering doing the swap this summer

That was my plan too. Car was in amazing condition when i bought it. Being an SE, it had leather interior with the carbon fiber trim too so it was that much better.

It's never too late, maybe i'll do a swap once the tranny craps out and i have enough money for parts.

underscore 03-01-2015 12:50 PM

My advice is to start searching for parts now, I saved a lot on the swap by acquiring parts over several months as they popped up for cheap.

SpeedStars 03-01-2015 12:52 PM

Iirc there's a 5spd on craigslist for like $300 or $400. Not sure if its still there

Took a quick look for it and couldnt find it... too bad.

If anybody is ever selling one or knows of a link for one post it up here!

underscore 03-02-2015 09:03 AM

There a list online of all the transmissions you can use for the swap, mines from an Accord and I paid $150 for it. If you're flexible on which one you use finding one cheap can be a lot easier since most people don't know a Prelude can use it.

Do you find the accord gears are really long? A couple guys on Prelude Power said they used it for the swap and regretted not choosing a tighter gear ratio'd tranny.

Gregboat 03-03-2015 10:35 AM

Also, has anybody had any experience with rebuilding their automatic tranny? If so, how much did it cost, who did you go to, and how long did it last the second time?

european 03-03-2015 10:54 AM

I still have my San Marino Red 97 Prelude but I have not driven it since the July 2014. I've sold most of the JDM parts (still have some left) and I'm hoping someone will buy the vehicle soon in stock form.

I would recommend swapping to a 5 speed. Either have a mechanic do the conversion for you if you cannot do it yourself or sell your auto prelude and buy a 5speed prelude. It's much easier. I did a 5speed swap long ago...

You can find info all over Vancouverpreludeclub.net and PreludePower.com if you're interested in the swap.

Nice Prelude.
