Canadian Rider 07-31-2015 09:14 PM

interesting... so that makes it truely a free product without win 7/8?
i need to format my laptop but i don't have a legit copy of windows for it.

I know, the fact that he posted generic upgrade keys confused me. I thought they were real keys being shared with members here.

There wasn't really much of a point in posting those, at least not without some explanation as to why ;)

StylinRed 08-01-2015 12:58 AM

hmm, so I cant seem to adjust my brightness any longer, and my function keys to do so aren't working...

also, it says windows isn't activated -_-

other than that it just takes some getting used to I guess

edit everything working after itdownloaded some updates and rebooted, woot... probably the easiest install I've had for Windows editions :lol

Windows 10 Pro VL-MAK - QJNXR-7D97Q-K7WH4-RYWQ8-6MT6Y

So those keys won't activate a copy of win 10. You still have to activate your hardware first.

StylinRed 08-01-2015 03:06 AM

According to MSFT win10 will eventually activate without the user needing to do anything, as long as you've upgraded from an activated win7/8 machine

My wifi is pretty wonky after the upgrade. No clean install, straight upgrade.
WiFi networks would either not show or takes forever to connect.
A reboot solves the issue.

MSFT's new Edge browser is laggy as well as I'm typing this post out. What I type out there's a slight 0.5 - 1 sec lag between keyed letters and onscreen display.

This ultrabook is close to 3 years old, UX31A, hopefully ASUS does provide us with drivers so I can do a clean install.

TOS'd 08-01-2015 01:57 PM

Will I be able to install win10 pro on a computer running cracked 7 pro via clean install?

StylinRed 08-01-2015 08:25 PM

hmm...so I followed the steps to get windows activated (for those having activation issues) and it says it want me to buy windows pro -_-

then I realized my tablet was running win10 home and not pro...

so I thought I would rollback to windows 8.1 and just install win10 home...turns out I can't rollback... windows tells me the files needed to rollback aren't available... -_-

so I thought I would just install win10 home edition over the pro version, and that's possible

except my apps, settings, bookmarks, etc. won't be backed up only my files -_-

blegh

What do you need from pro that isn't there?

its not that I needed or didn't want pro

I assumed my tablet was also using Win 8 pro like my desktop
so I installed it on both of them, but my tablet isn't 'Activating' and I'm assuming that's because it actually had Win 8 Home installed, so the 'free upgrade' to win 10 isn't working, so I wanted to rollback and upgrade again (but this time to win 10 home) hoping that it will become Activated, but now I cant do that without losing settings/bookmarks/et al. (so i'll have to back it up manually)

Did the upgrade and now the computer actually boots up slower than win 8. Also it seems when I let the computer go to sleep mode it won't wake up -_- have to force shut down or reset. The monitior will stay black no matter what I press on the keyboard it will stay black.

Experiencing File Explorer lag.

Whenever I double click to open a file within File Explorer. The cursor just spins, and nothing happens until a minute later.

honestly guys, you want MS to bring you a perfect new os and you do everything to block their telemetry. You do not deserve a better os like the one they brought you in the past. Period

Same here, I was hoping 10 would fix it. Haven't tried it yet

There's probably something very simple that you haven't done. Whether it be an update or setting because I'm using 8.1 and sleep works perfectly. Mind you I don't think sleep mode is terribly important. I still shut down my computer almost every night.

I'm running a counterfeit version of Windows 7 can I upgrade and then buy windows 10 without having to delete everything off my PC?

The updater won't run unless you have "Windows is activated" in the Systems Information screen. You can still try to use the offline ISO installer of Windows 10, but during the install, it will ask you for a key. Any generic key won't work because your machine ID doesn't match Microsoft's approved list. To get on the approved list, you must have an activated Windows edition.

I have no issue in Win 8.1. Anyways went back to Win 8.1 Win 10 keep lagging my PC after is on for 3 hours or so. When looking under the task manager it seems system is using all RAM. Till they fix this issue I see no point to upgrade to Win 10.

AzNightmare 08-06-2015 11:25 AM

I'm not in a rush to upgrade yet. Going to wait out for all the bugs to surface and get fixed first.

Does Windows 10 have the metro at all, or is it completely gone now??
