I think Philadelphia has a huge contract issue starting next year. They resigned Jacob Voracek last year to an 8-year 8.25 million per year extension and so far he has 1 goal and 8 assists. Next year that will be a top 10 salary contract for a guy that's currently tied for 165th in points.

I don't know how they can possibly get rid of that contract. Also Claude Giroux hasn't lived up to the hype of his first few seasons. Ever since he was named captain he has continually under-performed.

Suspected health issues with a family member, so being in Canada would allow for the family member to be moved to where he is for medical help. Also being in Canada, he wouldn't have to hassle with connections, immigration. He played in the WHL so maybe he enjoys it out west?

Canucks don't have much that would appeal anyways. All I can really think of that's expendable is picks, Jensen, one of Baert/Shinkaruk, Cassels, Hamhuis. Out of those, probably Cassels, due to MDC connection, and Hamhuis intrigue Snow the most

Doesn't hurt to call and find out what the asking price is than to not call at all imo
