Is it common for dealerships to offer test drives on such “halo” cars? |
Works well for them because then they will list it as a certified preowned with 300km for 60k over MSRP and not get in trouble from Honda. |
lulu 90k |
So its the manager buying these cars for themselves then flipping it back out as preowned? Is that a loophole? |
what's the requirement for test drive? signature that you'll be trading in a 2rs weissach? |

Would not be surprised if the same people that own CBC own Porscha |
The rules are the Manufactures don't actually give a shit. I wrote to VW just asking what they think about the whole dealer marking up cars 20-30k by driving them around the block. It's not like Honda makes and more or less money because XYZ dealer is marking up cars or not. I'll post their reply here: Thank you for contacting Volkswagen Canada regarding your dealership pricing concern. We are sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with your recent visit at a Volkswagen dealer. Our dealers are in many ways the face of Volkswagen Canada and we are always disappointed to learn about less than perfect encounters between our customers and any dealership. Volkswagen Canada does not set the final pricing offered by our authorized dealerships. All dealerships across Canada are privately owned entities that are not owned by Volkswagen Canada, and as such, have considerable autonomy in managing their enterprise, all the while adhering to the performance standards established by Volkswagen Canada. For this reason, any concerns regarding costs must be addressed with the dealership itself. Should you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us through our Customer Care Center at (800) 822-8987. We are open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm, Eastern Standard Time. Please be advised that you may receive a short survey by e-mail regarding your experience with our Customer Care Center. Please take a few moments to complete this. Your feedback is important and will allow us to serve you more effectively in the future. Sincerely, |
yup... I'm actually kind of annoyed when clueless people say "but in Canadaaa, you cannot sell above MSRP" Oh... There's many loopholes for dealerships to bypass that "MSRP". The "S" does stand for "suggested" after all. :derp: |
There are companies that take issue, or have taken issue with the practice though. It's not being implied its some countrywide law. |
If the manufacturers don't care, I'm surprised they haven't done more to profit from the demand > supply issue. |
msrp has definitely gone up as well how much of it is raw metal cost going way higher vs cashing in on pent up demand is harder to decipher |
Sonic Grey FL5 sitting in the Rmd showroom. $81,994. Abbotsford is calling their FL5 pre owned and asking $89,995. |
hahahahaha |
81k. After taxes that’s a 100k civic hahahahah. |
Does anyone know if these asking prices are pegged to some historical sales data where one actually sold one at these prices, or are sellers throwing out numbers arbitrarily somewhere in the same range as everyone else? |
Yeah, it's what's historically pulled from their ass. I'm sure dealers talk. As some as a chump buys it, that's the new standard. |
Dark told me that dude picked up the red GR ratrolla already so there are a few in the wild (including bender's?). I havent seen a new Type R in the wild yet |
