Is the eq e or s that bad? I've been noticing more ix. At least it's not as ugly.

EQE, EQS, and iX are hella ugly but good EVs for EV _commuter_.

1) All 3 have a pretty good trip planner, built in nav
2) All 3 supercharge quite a bit faster than Tesla
3) All 3 are quite a bit more comfortable than Tesla models
4) Mercedes has eyes-off self drive for EQS, BMW's hands off self drive is the best non-Tesla highway system.

Their problem is the Rivian and Lucid exist - fashionable items, even better EVs, even better software.

EvoFire 02-25-2025 11:15 AM

I have to say, Lucid Gravity is definitely my next planned family vehicle based on reviews. I just need a test drive to confirm it's actually a car I would like and can live with. The Mercedes EVs don't do it for me, and BMW is axing the iX which is their only pure EV offering. I have a strong personal belief that in 5-10 years the infrastructure and tech would be significantly different from what we are seeing now as standardization proliferates through the market.

That's quite a few years out though as I expect to be driving the X5 for the next 5 years at least.

On the topic of Lucid, looks like CEO Peter Rawlinson is stepping down as CEO.

Quote:

Electric vehicle maker Lucid Group on Tuesday said CEO Peter Rawlinson is stepping down as the company expects to more than double vehicle production this year to 20,000 units.

Lucid said Marc Winterhoff, currently the company’s chief operating officer, will step in as interim CEO. Rawlinson will serve as a “strategic technical advisor to the chairman of the board, stepping aside from his prior roles,” the company said.

Badhobz 02-25-2025 08:08 PM

thats horrible news! why is peter stepping down? hes the soul of that place and the reason why lucid was so handling/performance-focused. A real car guy's guy.

i figure ole petey boy lost a major fight with the bean counters, and the company is proceeding down a path he doesnt like anymore (trading engineering excellence for mass marketability)

JDMDreams 02-25-2025 09:11 PM

I thought he was in it for the Saudi money? Was it the same guy that paid himself like 320 million when the company still doesn't make any money

68style 02-26-2025 06:22 AM

He took that in stocks though, so not actual liquid money from the company... and that stock is worth like $60M now lol

$63000 for a Tucson monkaS more than I can afford pal, Hyundai

whitev70r 02-27-2025 10:17 AM

Wait ... so only used PHEV have no GST? New EV and PHEV still have to pay the full 12%?

dark0821 02-27-2025 10:44 AM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Well, a similar equipped RAV4 Prime = $72,797 out the door @ MSRP, I will say its a pretty good deal~

only used PHEV and EV are PST exempt and 5% GST only.

Brand new PHEV and EV under $70,000 still pays the full 12%, but just exempt from provincial luxury tax that usually starts at $55,000 for gasoline cars.

Weren't you a detached home owner before this Hyundai :suspicious:

Badhobz 02-28-2025 02:43 PM

That doesn’t make him a baller, that makes him indebted to the banks (unless you’re mortgage free then I tip my sombrero to you sir)

Yes, but I'm in my mid-40s and very fortunate to get into the housing market long before things got crazy.

Even then, still got massive property tax to pay. Can't win.

EvoFire 03-01-2025 03:31 PM

I had time to kill today and went to take a look at the new bus.

It's cool. It was too dark inside the dealer, together with tinted windows to really get a sense of the build quality. Yes hard plastic abound, but I don't have a lot of problems with hard plastic, especially in a vehicle like this that's going to get dirty. The hard plastic would be easier to clean.

The space was great, but it was a LOT bigger than I thought. In video reviews it doesn't look that big.

I was with dark082229384798397906873423467823 and he liked it. Then we looked at the price. Take all the tacked on things off, it's still 100k after tax. I want to drive it to see if it's actually worth 100k, but so far reviews aren't terribly favourable.

JDMDreams 03-01-2025 04:36 PM

Would you have a Hitler bus or a Hitler truck for $100gs?

The EU version is smaller.

EvoFire 03-02-2025 08:02 AM

It's not the length I was surprised about, more the height of it on the road.

JDMDreams 03-02-2025 01:32 PM

All this buzz talk made me look into some reviews, the AWD one only has 200 mile range which is like 320 km on a full charge. WTF:fulloffuck:

RabidRat 03-02-2025 01:56 PM

This is good.

If everyone has this kind of reaction to the Buzz, they'll have to discount them a ton. I'd happily accept the shortcomings for a budget EV van lol.
