I think if my mum gets another car, it's gonna be an Equinox or Bolt EV to replace her gasser RAV4. Simple, no hassle, reliable, long warranty. |
any body know a friend, family, or colleague that dove in for the Fiat 500e lease deal? Be curious as to how that turns out. With $1700 down, it's $200/mth lease. It is rated for > 200 kms range, basically a commuter, grocery getter. https://www.nanaimochryslerdodgejeep...080%20(2).webp |
When I was doing my residency a few weeks ago, someone on campus pulled up into the main campus EV parking area in one of these. I managed to speak to the owner on my last day there and she said it was a good grocery getter and to get her to/from home and the campus. She lives in Victoria so her commute is very short and hasn't taken it outside of the island yet but enjoys it for what it is. |
For the price, it’s fine for city driving. Turning radius is much than before. One pedal works well but adaptive cruise isn’t standard for bridge lineups. No auto hold makes city driving annoying. No 360 Camera. If you do any highway driving, the nav sucks for planning charging. No heat pump so winter highway range is terrible. |
You want a 360 cam on a Fiat 500? |
Ya the blind spot on the left side and mirrors are terrible. Throw in auto parallel park too, life saver when it’s rainy and dark. |
lol wtf since when did a Fiat 500 need a 360 camera? :lol The girl I spoke to lives in Victoria proper (Oak Bay) and her commute to Royal Roads (Colwood/Langford) is about 20 minutes or so. I can only imagine if she's commuting to Nanaimo and back, she may have be facing some challenges. And no heat pump - ouch. She's lucky Victoria is relatively mild. I can't imagine what it'd be like in Onterrible and Quebeckistan. |
You ever try looking out the left side? even with the non-Abarth seats, you can’t see anything because of the massive B pillar. Parallel parking on the left side of a 1 way street blows. It’s fine in 86 since you expect it but for an urban ‘easy’ to park car? Nah. |
I think many will be okay with its blind spot / no-360 limitations given how cheap it is to lease in lower-mainland/Canada. I can't think of anything else that comes close for a new car. I don't know anyone with one but I've noticed more of them on my commute since this promotion started. The car looks great and I hope this will help keep the model around for a bit longer. |
Can't beat the 500e at that price. A couple models we'll see some action on soon: 1) Honda Canada sales fell off a cliff, even the CR-V. They need to offer cheaper product & lower interest rate, so we will see Honda Prologue lease deals next. 2) GM Blazer and Equinox deals will intensify; Manufactured in Mexico so less susceptible to tariff. Battery is US sourced tho. 3) Hyundai/Kia EV leases will improve. They manufacture in Vietnam, India, Singapore, South Korea, and Indonesia so have some tariff resistance. 4) Wagoneer and Challenger launch has been a disaster in the states. They have Canadian battery manufacturing capacity so they will need to move some units in Canada. |

It's generally fine if it's bright and dry out. In the wet/dark.... 1) estimating whether you fit in the spot gets a lot harder 2) can't see shit in your mirrors, curbed the Abarth wheels once or twice 3) harder to see if there's incoming traffic when you're parking on the right |
Let's not overcomplicate things. People will learn to adapt and figure it out and if they can't, take the bus or Uber, or just move in in life with another form of mobility. It's just a car for crying out loud. |
If you're crashing your Fiat 500 into things you shouldn't have a driver's license |
JDMDreams laying down the third degree burns. |
ya crashed it straight into richmond hospital er |
fr, abarth turning radius is Odyssey big: Honda Odyssey (2018-present) → 36.7 feet (11.2 meters) 500 Abarth (2015+) → 36.7 feet (11.2 meters) |
ok next |

Not that I’m interested in one, but I did take note on the Honda website for the Prologue it has a pop up that says I can’t buy one in AB, only available in BC, ON and QC I’ve never owned or driven a car where I thought a 360 camera was required or helpful… I don’t even look at the backup cam in my Supra ever. I guess not everyone has a feel for their ride though lol! |
Honestly Prologue is terrible - doesn’t even offer active lane keep assist for when you’re in a bridge lineup of traffic jam. It just sells well cus of the brand and price. I’ve parallel parked Tacoma, Challengers and F150 in NYC/Seattle without 360 cam. Usually get it done in one shot, no scuffs but a 360 cam would make it easier in the dark and rain. |
^^ I honestly haven't seen that many prologues, I do see more Chevy blazers |
It's more an American thing, it's the #3 best selling EV in Q4 2024. Buyers go to Honda dealer, find out how much a Civic/CRV is with markups or have negative equity and credit issues that put them in a Prologue at $185 a month |

I had a fiat 500 in France where I drove 1200km in 3 days That is the shittiest vehicle I’ve ever driven period. Everything was the worst. The drive, comfort, blind spots, finishing. Etc. I wouldn’t take one for free tbh, that’s how bad the experience was with this one and it was brand new |
