Who makes a good looking car nowadays in that segment? Mercs are bubbly blobs. Lexus looks like a Prius, Audi? Don't know what they look like nowadays. Rivian too expensive.
All the reviews I've seen say it drives well for what it is, great range, fast charging. Checks a lot more boxes than doesn't.

PHEV, either in hybrid or range extending (engine serves as power generator) variant technically have best of both world, but remember, it'd unfortunately also carry the worst of both world.
From experience of myself and from all of people in my social circle who acquired a BEV, the whole range anxiety, charging speed... etc, are really all problems that arise from having the habit of driving ICE since... ever.
But unless one does long drive on a daily/weekly basis, once you go BEV and get used to it, that whole idea of wanting to charge full in 5min, wanting a 800km on a tank/charge desire all cease to exist.
90% of poeple won't drive more than 60km/day average and 99.9% won't do more than 250km/day. Pretty much any BEV out there that you can buy new is more than capable of doing that range regardless of season. Once you get home, you plug it in and next day is full.
It's the same idea that people bitching about not able to swap batteries on their phone. The reality is, once you get used to how long the phone lasts (generally speaking, the design is to go a day under regular usage, if not more), no one ask for that feature anymore. If there's a strong demand for swappable batteries, you can bet companies would keep it making it. But the truth is only a fraction of ppl actually even have a second battery for their phone when they were swappable.
The only people who I don't recommend BEV are people who can't install their own charger and those whose work or life need them to commute extreme distances often.
Every single person who have kept their ICE vehicle after gone BEV eventually sold their ICE car except those buying ICE for collection or hobby. For daily A-to-B drive, BEV are pretty much perfect. With more and more charging station and infrastructure coming, BEV would simply get more convenient every day.

Other than a recall that replaced the glue on some trim, it has yet gone back. And they only asked me to drop it because I drove the ct to buy some filter
The steer by wire is amazing. I wish more cars come with it. There’s absolutely no reason we need to turn the steering wheel for that much when turning. Going back to say my wife’s model x feels archaic.
It's not exclusive to the CT, but the outlets in the trunk is so awesome when camping. We had a full coffee setup (220v espresso machine, kettle for pour over and grinder) when camping in the middle of nowhere. Haha

The game changed last week when hertz gave me Silverado EV.
I drove it like a gas car....
- Plug in at any percent, it's still pulling 300kW while others are pulling 60kW
- 15 minute stop is like 60kWh charge, more than entire Model 3 SR+ battery
- 600km highway range in any condition, because 200kWh battery is double everyone else

The current X3 is UGLY. It looks cheap both inside and out - way too bulky on the outside. There's a couple colours where they hide the bulk well but in most colours it looks like a mumu dress.
The iX3 seems promising - I thought the nose was initially really ugly but it's grown on me. The rear and side still look a bit bulky like the X3 though but the nose is so much better

Hundreds of Tesla Cybertrucks have been spotted being delivered Elon Musk’s private companies, SpaceX and xAI, as Tesla is having issues selling the electric pickup truck.
Cybertruck turned out to be Tesla’s first real commercial flop.
After planning for a production capacity of over 250,000 units per year, Tesla is currently selling the pickup truck at a rate of ~20,000 units annually.
A ~10% utiliation rate of a production line is a terrible situation for an automaker as much of the capital invested in the vehicle program becomes sunk cost.
But things are even more difficult with Tesla, as even with much lower production, the automaker often ends up having inventory build-ups for the Cybertruck.
Elon Musk has a solution: he had his private companies buy hundreds if not thousands of Cybertrucks.
Several truckloads of Cybertruck were spotted being delivered to xAI’s offices this weekend.
Furthermore, SpaceX has taken delivery of hundreds of Cybertrucks at Starbase of the last week and it is expected to take delivery of hundres, if not thousands more in the coming weeks.
Wes Morrill, the Cybertruck lead engineer, commented on the delivery and said that SpaceX, along with Tesla, is replacing its support fleet with the Cybertruck:
Love to see the ICE support fleets from Tesla and SpaceX get replaced with Cybertruck. When we were engineering it, this was always part of the dream. Never imagined how hard the fleet photos at starbase would go. Looking forward to more of this.
He didn’t elaborate on how many vehicles SpaceX is expected to buy. |
