This post was probably more work than Hobz has put in at the office, for an entire month.
It'd be cool if The Autopian did a new segment called HTPPMI - Hot Takes by a Prior Industry Product Management Intern [working title], and you just randomly uploaded short off-the-cuff snippets like this
If companies are smart the bullshit excel report building job I did as a product planning intern should no longer exist! Claude Opus does a week’s worth of work in a minute.
Most people just using the free / shitty base ChatGPT model and are missing like 90% of the power these tools have.

The thing the Rav4 has going for it is probably all hybrid even at the lowest trim, there's no more pure gas car, and also the PRIME which Honda doesn't do.
This is very vague memory, but when we were shopping back in 2018, I remember the CRV consistently undercutting the Rav4 with the options we wanted. Now the table is turned and the Rav4 is consistently undercutting the CRV.
I can't claim to have driven the new RAV4 but judging by the consensus from the pros I can't see how Toyota can compete with the CR-V at the top end when pricing is this close (even assuming the CR-V has less features) as the CR-V is just so much better of a car than the RAV4.
Sure if you want an appliance the RAV4 sells on being a Toyota but the CR-V is, as a car, WAY better.
The assumption here is that consumers care about the same shit we do (seats comfort, ride quality, much quieter engine, interior materials, etc).
My bet is consumers see the much higher res and brighter screens on the RAV4 ... 45W USBC for Nintendo Switch/latest phones and perceive it to be the better quality product.

Lousy Honda fan boy. How the hell can you make this judgement without even driving the new one ?!? Honestly Honda weirdos are just as bad as Porsche fags. Long gone are the k series and b series days. Long gone are the days when they were fun, light and reliable.
Todays Honda is pure trash. Absolute dog shit trash similar to modern day Toyota. If it wasn’t for the CTR they have don’t have a single compelling product. Base model civic for 32k ? Eat a dick.
This take I hard disagree with because I think 11G Civic LX is their best product.
- It's actually 28, Honda website adds PDI/fees/etc.
- Compared to 9 and 10G it has every feature from their top trim and more, except leather seat/sound system.
- Interior size is meaningfully bigger than Corolla, good enough for family.
- Driving dynamics and feel is wayyyy better than Corolla.
- K20 with the new gen CVT is super quiet and almost gets Prius fuel economy in NYC driving.
- Hybrid is WAY more powerful than Corolla hybrid which takes 12s 0-60
yeah the underpinnings are decent, but not 32k good. like for fuck sakes, most people who buy econoboxes dont give a shit. Nobodys buying a 32k civic and claiming its the best handling econobox. Hell my hitlerbox drove better but once again, who cares.
Plus their old 1.5T was so trash they had to resurrect the K series name (although it has almost nothing in common with the old k series) and go back to NA.
When it comes to shitty econoboxes, you buy the most reliable, most features, cheapest price. The civic is none of these. Ratrolla will always win.
the fuck you talking about, how can the corolla be for ants? You talking about the corolla hatch?
ive had numerous corollas and every generation they've gotten bigger and bigger. The sedan is adequate for daily / poor people's family use.
Ive sat in numerous corollas driven by uber and taxi fucks, never had any issues with space. The civic is only marginally bigger. The new CRV is quite a bit bigger than the previous rav4. That thing is basically mid sized SUV now.
New Corollas are like older Camrys
New Civics are like older Accords. The Fit (which they don't even make anymore) is what the Civic used to be.
They somehow just getting bigger.

I've been in enough 6 hour road trips to blue mountain in all of em in college to know the current Corolla is small.
Yes, the current Civic is 7th gen Accord sized and the numbers show - see my sig. No, the Civic absolutely clears Corolla where it matters to humans
1 - Civic has 4 more inches of shoulder room front; put on a winter coat and you'll feel i
2 - Civic has 4 more inches of rear hip/shoulder room; 3 adults won't hate each other
3 - Civic has 3 more inches of rear legroom
4 - Current gen Corolla actually got SMALLER inside compared to last gen (89cuft vs 97)
Now let's compare to 06 Camry and Accords.
Civic? Every interior measurement is exact same as the Camry and Accord.
Corolla? Hell nah bro, it's short 5 inches of shoulder room and hip room, A pillar is noticeably closer to my face.
I can't even find a spot to put my cell phone in the Corolla - Pro Max doesn't fit in that cubby under the streen, USBC cable is up against passenger knee, and the CVT temps ROAST the phone
YouTubers will disagree with you on this. They rank rav4 higher than crv. In general rav4 is #1 by majority of them if not all. But it comes down to if you needed one today, which can you get your hands on? Answer is crv, after you fork out an extra couple thousand because msrp of a crv is higher than rav4.
Happened to a coworker of mine. Had a corolla (less than 10 years old) to trade in, tried to get a brand new rav4. Was told that there is a waitlist, so they went to Honda and got a crv hybrid the same day.

you kids are a bunch of elitist bastards!
THIS. IS. A. SMALL. CAR.
I still dont know what youre talking about, they are perfectly fine. I've leased like 4 corollas since my 20's and they've only gotten bigger. Plus you kids arent exactly all 6'2 specimens of obesity like me, so why you need all this room? For your iphone max!??! shove it up your ass mop head.

Thats the only reason why people buy modern hondas. They couldnt get a toyota so the next best thing is to grab one of these instead.
ND miata was smaller than NC and everyone lapped that shit up. Why do these sub compact cars need to be the size of an 06 accord/camry? who asked for this bs? why do i want a mid sized corolla.
Either way i want 1) cheap 2) reliable 3) safety junk.
corolla fills these 3 points better than the civic. Thats why those taxi fucks keep driving the corollas instead of civics. For majority of the people who buy these things, all it matters is reliability and price point.

Thats because everything toyota made past the 2020's have been an exercise in cost cutting and self destruction. They are coasting on their perceived reliability now. I looked at a brand new sienna a few months ago and that interior was so plasticky, i think lego would have rejected it.
taxi fucks are the ultimate test in reliability. That matters more than a few meager inches for broke ass bitches. They dont want a car repair bill, they dont want to spend the 2k more. Plus that toyota safety sense is quite good given its standard on all models.
i dont even know why the fuck im defending toyota. i hate them now. Honda's are just as stupid if not more so.
go buy a nissan sentra instead or a used Tesla model 3. fuck this shit.

Literally the worst thing about living in Toronto.
4x longer drive for 1/4 of the Whistler experience
(and 8x longer drive for a comparable experience to Cypress / Seymour)

Watch as Nissan / Infiniti to leap out of the bushes with a big comeback .

Cost is the biggest factor why taxi companies favour Toyotas over Hondas. Until the current generation of Civic hybrids, Toyota hybrids have significantly lower operating costs than any similar Honda could offer. Not only are fuel costs significantly lower, brake costs are also significantly lower (bcos of regenerative braking). I also believe servicing costs a somewhat higher for Hondas than they are for Toyotas, but the lower hybrid fuel cost alone is already more than enough reason for taxi companies to go with Toyotas over Honda.
I absolutely think the current gen Civic hybrid is the far superior car over the current gen Corolla (hybrid). But the Civic hybrid is also quite a bit more expensive than the Corolla hybrid. A similar price gap applies to the Camry (hybrid) vs the Accord (hybrid). So costs alone is the sole reason why taxi companies choose Toyota over Honda.

The last time I got a Nissan Sentra rental, while taking the ramp from the Gardiner Expressway onto the DVP northbound, the steering wheel decided to shake violently left and right out of nowhere. I seriously thought I was going to die.
