Shootout to decide the medals...

Should always be continuous OT for these games..

I honestly don't mind the shootouts and as much as people like to berate shootouts as not being part of hockey... I've always thought otherwise.

I mean, back from street hockey to decide a winner quickly all the way to my minor hockey days, shootouts have always been a part of hockey.

And for those that says it's a terrible way to decide a game, if you can't close a game in 60, then you deserve the coin flip.

Since Canucks are so far out of the playoff race, and I'm indifference about them making to the playoffs to get swept or tanking for a better draft pick.

Whenever the game's close, I hope it ends up in a tie just so I can watch pond hockey action with potential of shootout. Those 5+ minutes of the game are often more exciting then the first 60 mins combined. The showdown in a shootout is one of hockey's most intense and exciting moments.

The shootout always favour the winning team.

60 minutes, plus a 5 on 5 for 20 minutes. A shootout at the end is appropriate. And, the rules apply to both sides equally. The only advantage would be for a team full of sharpshooters as opposed to a team that plays with synergy. Even then, the first 80 minutes should have decided it. Too much pressure on the goalie, but some like Luongo live for this opportunity, Gulolol. No more talk about the World Juniors, please. I forgot about the game till now. Hey, at least we won the Spengler Cup this year (2016).

Washington ends CBJ's win streak with a 5-0 shutout win last night.

Aww, too bad for Torts.

The 1992 Penguins team retains the league record for longest winning streak at 17 games.

i think the shootout has a place in the game

but it's a damn shame to end what was such a good game
3 on 3 OT for a full 20 minutes is pretty much guaranteed to end it

Chabot was pretty fun to watch and the Sens definitely landed another potential franchise scoring dman with him. Just for shiggles, if the Sens called and offered Chabot for Juolevi straight up would you do it?

Another complaint about the WJC was the ridiculous ticket prices. NHL prices for junior events is overkill, yes it's in Canada, yes, we love our hockey but no way in hell am i paying an arm and a leg for something i can enjoy in my TV. I hope this won't be the case when it lands in Vancouver/Victoria.

Chabot for Juolevi in a heartbeat!

I honestly don't find Juolevi that good I mean yeah he young blah blah but he is not really a typical stud D man aka franchise dman. Juolevi is well rounded but most likely wont put up the numbers Chabot will. I mean if you go by comparison buy how each other played in the world juniors this year Chabot by far had the better tourney.

Most of you guys on here and myself were choked canucks picked juolevi 5th over all over Tkachuk in the draft last year. I mean it easy to say now since Tkachuk is in the NHL putting up points and Juolevi isn't. If you are going to pick a for sure stud D man in the top 5 he better be able to put up points and have a bit of flash to his game....That's why canucks probably should have traded down in my opinion and maybe picked up a guy like sergachev who I think is way better then Juolevi but that's the way she goes sometimes..

Juolevi leech off Laine + Puljujarvi in WJC and Tkachuk + Marner in OHL?

Trade him for Duchene

is Virtanen heading down towards bust territory?

Guy has yet to have an aha moment in his career that you would usually see with up and coming talent. Massive disappointment at the last WJC where he was expected to dominate, had his conditioning questioned in the AHL by Green and hasn't exactly lit up the minors.

No reason to panic and pull fire alarms yet but if he doesn't show something towards the tail end of the AHL season and through next season (assuming it'll be in the minors again) he'd be knee deep in bust territory imo.

With Avalanche willing to trade their young guys in Duchene and landeskog would you give up on Virtanen now and go after one of them?

Landeskog might be had for cheaper than Duchene.
Guy's just having an off year and is a pretty solid physical presence.

Have to wonder if Barrie on the block as well.

all of them are too steep for the Canucks anyway. The last rumored package that the Bruins offered the Avs for Landeskog confirms that. I wouldn't give up on Virtanen this year just yet. But if he's done nothing remarkable between now and trade deadline 2018, i'd give up.

If he's done nothing remarkable between now and 2018 trade deadline. Pretty sure nobody wants him either.

Virtanen should be worth at least a draft pick if Dim Jim does trade with Florida or Calgary.

He should get draft picks back since he traded some picks away for previous trades.

Nice job............ too much staccato in some places, but nice balance and some nice harmonies. It's good to hear local groups perform and do well.

4 goals in 12 shots for Canucks.
1 goal in 29 shots for Calgary.

Everything going Canucks way.

Spoiler!

Fuck, another stupid Sedin move (penalty)............. how many times have we seen this?
