Goldy is definitely offensively skilled but I can tell why WD didn't like him, very russian and comes across as a bit snobby on the ice, skates by the guy that set him up during celebrations... reminds me of Shirokov or Yashin
Then again, I can't complain about the offensive upside at the moment.
We don't have a dman that would fetch Drouin without a serious add. Tanev and Stetcher are probably the only guys worth consideration and Tanev isn't young anymore.
I know everyone wants to trade for more offense, but a good offense with a poor defense is death in the NHL. You can survive with a popgun offense if you have a decent defense and good goaltending. It's extremely boring to watch, sure, but they still contend.
All the all-offense, no-defense teams have been bottom-dwellers (Edmonton, Toronto, Colorado, etc.) Most of them never even achieved good offensive numbers because the whole team just loses confidence when you're constantly on the losing end.
