Don Taylor was fired by Sportsnet and came back to Team1040. That poor bugger has no luck!

It was only a matter of time when they announced that Team 1040 would no longer be broadcasting the Canucks games. They're part of the Bell Media conglomerate and have been running Fox Sports garbage ad nauseam for the last year. With Bro Jake being gone for a few weeks now, and no word on his return, plus Pratt and Sat just sucking in the morning, it's only a matter of time before 1040 has a format change.

Sportsnet 590 "the fan" is actually pretty good. I got listening to them while the Leafs were in the first round and was impressed. This could be a good change for us.

I really wondering what's up with Bro Jake, ya he sucks but I'm still curious what's up with him even tho they keep on saying he's coming back. I think it's been at least a month so far.

Krueger would've been great. Was great at the World Cup but still no gig in the NHL, can't seem to catch a break.

Its because of my time difference. Usually post around 2am but gotta be up at 6 or 7. Not searching for the sources at that time. Apparently I shouldn't post the rumors/info then

also if anyone remembers, I went off on someone who kept using about 30 hyphens per post on here as if he was a Gary Valk type poster, and said we all needed to start our own annoying shit to become Gary Valk like.

Krueger is basically the boss of Southampton in the Premier League. Coming back to the NHL would be a huge step down.

"In 2014, Krueger made the switch from ice hockey to association football, becoming director of Southampton in February 2014. Shortly after, he was appointed chairman of the club."

as for the sources on the head coach stuff youll have to go through a lot of benning and linden interviews on 1040. both would rarely talk about the others coaching preference and boast about the one they would like. don't have much time atm. think it was imac who said it was basically down to 2 coaches right away too

friedman touched on the linden bit in his 30 thoughts the other week.
30 Thoughts: Canucks coach criteria good news for Green - Sportsnet.ca
- linden holds a lot of respect for green, and acknowledges what he did with basically an echl roster the last couple of years.

benning interviews on tsn1040
gushed over kreuger during the wch
within the last 2 weeks started praising him again. benning is an easy man to see through.

lets be honest if Krueger was ever in the discussion I would assume he would want money something along the lines of what he is getting paid now in the Premier. Which would never happen because you think they would pay him more then Joel Q, Mike Babcock? highly doubtful....

Exactly. Also it could be his last chance at the NHL. Why would you go to a dumpster fire of a team for that. Which is basically why Green got 4 years. The team sucks and if he gets fired after 2 years because it's so shitty he has 2 extra years of pay.
Someone on Reddit summed up the green hiring like this.. Green coached well in the AHL, so management finally decided to give him an AHL roster

Only took 4 years for the guy to be honest with a fan base that saw the writing on the wall..

From all i've heard of the behind the scenes with Trevor, in my head i picture him far more as an incompetent manager than i do a Canuck hero.

Rebuild retool compete etc etc.. what's the big deal?

It's still not going to change the attitude of management and/or organization. They are still going to try to win every night. Players and ex players are wired to win. They're not going to be hey lets lose this game so we may have the chance get a good young player for the team.

IMO, when you don't make the playoffs, you're rebuilding your team as every team's goals should be to make it and fight for the cup. The past 2 season, we're 3rd and 2nd last in the league so we have a much longer way to go. Hell, I would hate the Canucks to become the coyotes, taking shitty contract for prospects, trading away vets. Look at how buffalo and colorado fallen with their rebuilding plans.

Funny I remember when Linden was originally rumoured to be taking the job, and someone said that it was a terrible move for him because he had a sterling reputation from his playing days and NHLPA work an that the only eventuality was for his reputation and legacy to be tarnished.

Yeah but which one pulls the best wool?

As for your rebuild: It's been a similar, yet shorter path to the Leafs.
2006-2009: still pushing for the playoffs and failing to see the writing on the wall.
2009-15 the Burke/Nonis joke of a fast rebuild while still toiling in mediocrity. 2015-present: Shanahan comes in and the rebuild begins.

Last season, management traded away our biggest contracts, acquired picks and prospects, put guys on "Robidas Island" aka extended long term IR, etc. Almost all of the prospects were called up and they all worked hard for Babcock. I don't think I've seen a team lose so many one-goal-games. The players didn't tank, management just made the conditions right for them to lose.

I'm sure Green will be able to get the players to work hard each game.

Toronto won a draft lottery with 2 elite prospects at the top of the draft, which saved them at least 2 years on their rebuild.

I don't count 13-14 as a "rebuild" year, I count it as a decent team that fell off the rails halfway through the season because of an insane coach that the GM and the players didn't want. A lesser roster with a shittier coach made the playoffs the next season (because he had roster depth to work with which Lindenning have pissed away with garbage trades and signings).

Canucks are rebuilding so Green is the right fit. An experienced coach is not going to do well here anyways. It's important to reward hard work and Green deserves a chance to prove himself. Everyone was a rookie coach at one point. Let's see what he's got.

What's the point of hiring then firing willie when they were just half assing it for the last two years? Poor guy. The guy literally had no chance to succeed.

because Willie didn't agree with management and went rogue, he got himself fired and with Green being in the Canucks system for the last 4 years that on't happen with him since he knows what to expect.
