I understand Team Tank's penchant for wanting to lose the rest of the season to get as close to Nolan Patrick as possible. But that's what Edmonton looked toward every February/March for the better part of a decade, and only due to a bit of luck are they finally out of it. For those that want to reference Chicago- it was not until Toews took that team by the nuts that they established a culture of winning. And for Toronto let's face it- they have a better draft record lately compared to the Canucks AND they landed the prize in the last top-heavy draft.
Willie is an idiot- there's no doubt about that. But he's still getting wins which will help the players who will eventually inherit this tire fire of a team learn what it takes to win in this league. That to me is more valuable than a marginally better pick in this year's draft because let's face it- the Canucks are not winning that draft lottery. | If I can thank you again for this post, I would. Very well written.

This is a good article on the strengths that smaller goalies have. Goaltender Size Is Not As Important Anymore - InGoal Magazine
All one has to do is look at Ben Bishop. He's a monster, and should be the most successful goalie based on the modern idea of size. But he's fragile, and susceptible to low shots. Goal scorers are smart, and have the ability to learn a goalie's weakness. That's why he is now a backup in LA.
Size isn't everything.

bishop isn't a great goalie he is good but should be better, I guess you could say the same thing for markstrom, lack bigger goalies don't really pan out the be studs. Need guys that are able to move real well and are quick.

Your last line is exactly what Lack isn't.
Kevin Woodley was on 1040 outlining Lack's horrendous numbers since moving to Carolina. They basically wanted him to be a skating/mobile goalie playing "out-in" and successfully put Lack in the worst position possible to succeed. Lack excelled in Vancouver by playing deep to minimize his crease movements and take advantage of his size. In Carolina he was asked to do the thing he was worst at which was to be able to move increased distances with his sub-par skating.

I really enjoy those player article's which show a different view on what they are dealing with in actual life. I swear they seem to be all ex Canucks lately (I know the last two but still)

I think that was the first game ever not even a comment was made. Especially playing a home game against the Habs and the Canucks for kids telethon was on.
That being said great news they lost but shitty they got 1 point. Goldy sure has some nice chances but also turned the puck over a bunch of times but at least he looked decent in the offensive zone.

lol there was that one sequence when Shaw called for the puck and Goldy passed it behind blindly after he missed shooting on an odd man chance
he's definitely got the the offensive instincts...just needs time to familiarize himself with his linemates and the system
Common sense is to keep him in the same line and let him get used to the line mates.
So what does dipshit Willie do? Willie pulls him off Bo's line in the third and puts Cramarossa there. Who proceeds to look like a heavy plug in a speedy, offensive line.
fuck this coach

yah switching goldy for cramarossa made not sense at all. There was a play I think it was either bo or sven behind the net and one of them passed to cramarossa. He was close to the net I think left side on prices blocker side. He received the puck but was too slow to shoot and got checked. I thought to myself if that was goldy he would at least got the shot off on net.
