WD is a decent coach. In the juniors.
But he just doesn't have what it takes to be a head coach in the NHL.
His line deployments, lack of creativity. In the end, it's his ass on the line when the PP and PK suffers.

Horvat
Bae
Granlund
Stecher
Tryamkin
Hutton
All of these players you could consider part of our next "core" going forward. And all of these players were developed under Willie's watch.
I agree he's not fit to be an NHL head coach. Put him in an assistant/associate position and I think he'd be a great bridge to the head coach and teacher to young players.

BoHo was rated as a leader type personality, much like Linden.
If anything, WD overplayed BoHo last season due to injuries to other players and if it was another player, they may have regressed but Bo was able to funnel it and push himself to be better. Don't believe it, the biggest knock against him was his skating. He took it upon himself to get a skating coach and help him improve his skating.
Bae and Grandlund are in the same boat. Both had some NHL and AHL time with the Flames. They lacked consistency and you can say WD helped them with that.
Stetcher was a highly touted player from college. Many NHL teams were trying to sign him. While he has outplayed his expectations, in reality it wasn't that far of a stretch given his pedigry.
Tryamkin is the worst example of someone WD coached up and was given ice time due to him earning it. Tryamkin's deal forces the Nucks to have him in the NHL. If they try to send him down to Utica, Tryam has the right to walk away and go back to the K.
With all the injuries, WD is forced to play Tryamkin, but don't forget he has played in the K against adults so it's not like he is a complete rookie.
Hutton played his way onto the team and again exceeded all expectations last year. But again, he played 4 years of college hockey before playing a part season in Utica. I'd say his development had more to do with NCAA hockey than WD.
Flip side. He turned a really good NHL'er into someone who clearly did the bare minimum to finish the season and get the fuck outta here with Vrbata.
Lets look at all the kids that didn't do well under WD.
You have everyone's goat with JV.
Ronalds Kenins
Linden Vey
Jared McCann
All are kids that played at least 1 full season under WD and look at where they are now.

Not that I'm much for defending WD (despite giving him a clean slate this year after it was revealed that Willie had been given a mandate to play the kids last year from his superiors; thus the near-sewering of Burrows' career ... and then Willie basically proving he's terrible with or without interference from management).
McCann and JV had no business playing a full year in the NHL last year (I'd argue JV had no business playing in the NHL at all considering he clearly didn't earn a shot in camp; McCann at least had an excellent camp). That's on management ... multiple fucking times.
As for Kenins, he stopped doing what earned him a shot in the NHL. He was also riding Bo's coattails hard.
The Vrbata thing never made any sense to me; he and the Sedins were incredible together and then Willie decided to break them up late in 14-15 and continued it into 15-16. Hansen benefitted from it, but Vrbata clearly lacked chemistry with everyone else on the team where Hansen fits with everyone.
Tryamkin; Linden said his turnaround is from his buy-in to nutrition and fitness.
Maybe he's worked some magic with Granlund. He was frustrating to watch last year and he's become a pretty decent offensive player this year. Not the best defensively, however. Certainly less defensive prowess than I was expecting from his reputation coming in.
He's fucked with Bae's head despite Bae being a top offensive player on the team for 2 years. How many inexplicable pressboxing should Bae get? He got the pressbox treatment earlier this year for 2 bad games after being the team's leading scorer over the previous 8. Then comments like, "this isn't a try league, it's a gotta get it done league" regarding Bae while he says guys like Megna and Sbisa get ice time because he likes their effort despite lack of production. Make some fucking sense, Willie!

Aside from Ferraro and the other TSN guests (McKenzie, Duthie, etc.), I don't really care.
They destroyed the morning show, Donny, Mac, and Moj barely ever talk hockey in the afternoon, anyways (unless they're talking with Ferraro) and are rarely interesting.
Add on top their overly critical opinions of the Canucks when they were actually good because they hated Gillis and their frequent attempts to create goalie controversies and other drama.

I think the other issue could be the fact that the Canucks brass + AQ doesn't like how the media on TEAM 1040 are always criticizing them on air about their decisions on the team.

Don't mind baseball talk, but they don't know much about the game.
But I agree, I can't stand listening to BJ try to talk about hockey when he clearly knows nothing about it.
The Fat man's opinions are so far in left field, that it's as comical as Timpo's taste in bodykits.
