Nothing wrong with owning a jersey of a player who is no longer with the team. Its a sign you aren't just some bandwagon fan with no knowledge of the roster beyond the current one. I still wear my Kessel jersey for many reasons:
- I'm a fan of Kessel, I can relate to his struggles with public speaking and awkwardness, and admire how he managed to overcome those struggles, as well as overcome cancer, to be one of the best goal scorers in the league.
- 81 is my birth year.
- He left the Leafs on good terms, not wanting to be traded.
- He scored the Leafs only goal when attending my first Leafs game.
- It also shows I liked the Leafs before it was cool (before their was hope).
Plus jerseys are expensive and I haven't decided on which of the new Leafs I want. Probably Matthews, since my son learned to walk the day we won the draft lottery.
I have signed jerseys from Luongo, Kesler, Burrows, and Linden.
Got Luongo and Kesler's at the arena by the parking entrance. Both those guys didn't want to do any more autographs, until they saw that I had their jerseys, then they agreed to sign.
Burrows' autograph was from a signing session in Langley. We had waited for nearly 2hrs, Burr had already signed about 100 things and time was cutting close. His agent wanted to cut off the line because they had to get back to the arena for some gala thing. But Burr saw and knew that we had waited for hrs for him, and it was only going to be another 10ppl or so. So he told his agent to let us go thru. Shook his hand and thanked him for taking the time to sign for us.

I have autographed D. Sedin (x2), H. Sedin, Burrows, Kesler, and Bieksa jerseys (all from Canucks fantasy hockey plus an autographed stick and a bunch of autographed pucks) plus unautographed H. Sedin (alternate with an A, first jersey I ever bought) and Luongo jerseys.
