Watch. Detroit is going to win the lottery, draft Nolan Patrick, begin their rebuild right away and be back in the playoffs in 2 years to begin another dynasty.

More like, Canucks somehow wins the lottery. Drafts a bust. Continues with half-assed rebuild/retool. Detroit gets a top 5 pick who ends up becoming a franchise player and future HOF and wins a cup within 5 years.

More like Canucks win the draft lottery. Draft someone else who management will claim will be a better player. Watch that player being sent to juniors while the one we missed typically right below our player becomes a top player in the NHL. Ie tkachuck and Kopitar

For those of you that like old time hockey and line brawls, it was recently the 10 year anniversary of the Sabres/Sens line brawl that resulted from the Neil hit, featuring Emery fighting Biron and then Peters.

The Sabres did a good behind the scenes, round table with those involved https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/way-...og/c-287810960

Tough?

They'd have to win all 12 remaining games to get to 67 points. We have 65 and 12 games remaining.

No call on the play either.
Tkachuk is in my pool, and I could have used the PIMs.
Also, justice.

fuck...such a player

I wish we drafted him. What I wouldn't give up for that grit.
Too bad he did it to Doughty. Would've been perfectly ok if it was Dustin Brown.

drafting tkachuk is somewhat a miss but you would have to think with this shit head coach he wouldn't get a shot with the canucks. We all know he would have got sent back to juniors.

So JBs interview last week about the draft was kind of surprising. In that we already drafted jueolevi in the top5 but JB was saying if there was a legitimate pp quarterback they would really look at it. If we draft another dman in the top 5 two years in a row my head will explode. If the dman is not a doughty/ekblad type of stud there is noway we should draft that early.

I think if our pick is out of the top 3, it's going to be a dman.

Just be prepare for it. haha

doubt it
we're flush with D at the moment, there's a need for Centres so that'll most likely be filled

The 2018 draft is supposedly stocked with potential franchise dmen though. If Canucks draft out of top 5 in this supposed "weak" draft year, i think it might make sense to see if another team is willing to swap their 2018's for our 2017.

that's one thing canucks had issues with before was not having enough dman. Now its a different story of them having too much. Their main focus should be finding more top end forwards with skill and speed. Obviously they would need to start of with centres then move to the wing. But their first priority is finding more centre help hopefully they expose sutter and get his money off the books but I doubt it.

I know we all think we should have drafted Tkachuck because well we see him in the league now making an impact and wish what could have been. I'm still going to wait until how Olivie or however you spell his name pans out first. I tend to agree with Jim's thinking in terms of how hard it is to get a dman and if he pans out to be even a super solid #2 would that be such a bad thing? Would we not consider that a pretty successful draft pick?

Can always trade D for forwards. Look at Edmonton trading Hall for Larsson. But if the Canucks do draft in the top 3, they better pick a centre, since there aren't really top d-men in this draft. If they pick in the 5 to 10 spots, I could see it.
