Question back in jvs draft was whether he 6th overall or 40 something according to button.

There were no consensus that he's a top 10 pick right?

He got the tools and size. Just a matter if he's able to use it. Going back to junior wouldn't done good for him. He needs to learn to be a pro and play against grown men same size as him. It's the stupid ahl rule that's the problem.

pretty sure he was at least a top 10 pick

it was the local Canucks analytics guys that wanted the org to draft Nylander, Ehlers and absolutely did not want them to draft JV

Going back to junior was the right move because his personality, maturity levels couldn't handle the NHL. Doesn't help that the Canucks hyped him up because he's a hometown kid. In hindsight, he should've stayed in junior and slowly brought up through the AHL.

Barring a good camp, he probably should stay in the AHL for another year but at least be one of the first to get called up.

Reinhart: Low - 1, High - 4, Average - 2.23, Median - 2
Draisaitl: Low - 3, High - 7, Average - 4.69, Median - 4
Bennett: Low - 1, High - 4, Average - 2.31, Median - 2

Nylander: Low - 3, High - 10, Average - 6.85, Median - 7
Ehlers: Low - 4, High - 16, Average - 7.77, Median - 8
Ritchie: Low - 5, High - 18, Average - 8.92, Median - 8
Fiala: Low - 6, High - 22, Average - 14.38, Median - 14
Perlini: Low - 9, High - 20, Average - 12.15, Median - 12
Vrana: Low - 13, High - 30, Average - 21, Median - 21
Honka: Low - 13, High - 34, Average - 22.15, Median - 20
Larkin: Low - 9, High - 26, Average - 16.38, Median - 15

Nylander was the consensus BPA based on pre-draft scouting reports available to the public.
Posted this in November.

By consensus of publicly-available scouting lists, Jake would've been behind Nylander, Ehlers, Ritchie, and Fleury (so 10th overall)

Craig Button raised a lot of eyebrows when he said JV was around 43rd best from his rankings. Button usually is pretty spot on for most of his picks, so it sucks to see us pass on Ehlers and Nylander.

Yes, Button was the one who ranked him 43rd.

That said, there were a few other scouting rankings who had him in the mid-teens.

No one had Nylander out of the top 10

Gaudette gonna go to FA just watch

it's hard for me to consider our college prospects "ours" except Boeser because of the college rule (or the ones who've come out to say they're committed to sign)

there's also Lockwood to watch but he needs more time to develop...but when that time is given will he sign or will he walk?

i hate the ncaa rule for that

I know the draft is a lottery, but still. All we had to do was lose the last 3 games of the season and we would have picked no worse than 3rd.

Dhaliwal coming through again

guessing they entice him with nhl games, if not should help comets on an ato. his senior team's season is done, and the jr team has a 3 game series against Brynas J20.

also the following from hank last night in the provies
“There’s a lot to say on this. It’s going to help them. But you don’t want to get satisfied playing well down the stretch. That’s the scary part.
“When you do that, it can be a problem because then you come in next year and you think it’s going to be easy but it’s a whole new ballgame.
“They need to take another step over the summer. They can’t just be thinking ‘This is where it ends. I’m in the NHL now and can relax.’
“It’s about taking the next step and that’s what we want to see from them.”

because Canuck luck

and Dhaliwal is priming the Canucks for another College FA let down by saying they're still in the mix for Aston-Reese.

Canucks are always bridesmaids this time of the year

rumor is aston reese wants to go to the rangers but the rangers are apparently worried about contract spots as they are going after some Russians from the khl and the fact he may need a few years in the ahl and has to fix his speed to get to the nhl

apparently he makes his decision by tomorrow afternoon

Thinking about the Canucks prospects this morning, I think they are heading towards a good spot compared to a few years ago. 2015, the cupboards were pretty much bare. You look now, and assuming they can get Gaudette signed after his Junior season, their prospect pool is looking a lot more exciting.

- Olli Juolevi
- Nik Goldobin
- Jonathan Dahlen
- Brock Boeser
- Adam Gaudette
- Thatcher Demko

Add them to the likes of Horvat, Baertschi, Tryamkin, and Stecher and you have a solid base of under 25 players. And this isn't counting potential players in the system such as Virtanen, Guillaume Brisebois... well there isn't that much else there :P
