So do you purposely break your phone even if it was fine just so you can make use of the replacement policy? I get the feeling a lot of people would especially if they get a few nicks and scratches on their phones lol

Hondaracer 10-20-2016 07:19 AM

well yea, with the old policy when applecare+ was $109 or whatever, it was $89 for a screen replacement, or $110 i think for a device replacement. I brought my 6 in once for a screen replacement and was choked i paid 89 on top of the 109 for a new screen..

didnt make much sense to pay 89 to replace my screen if my phone was scratched to shit, by paying that additional $20 i gained potentially 150-300 in resale value lol

MarkyMark 10-20-2016 07:22 AM

But say you didn't break your screen but your phone was scratched to shit. Have you "accidently" broke it to get a scratch free replacement lol

Iceman_2K 10-20-2016 08:21 AM

I had a friend that drove over his otherwise mint iPhone 6 just to catch the replacement though Apple Care so he could sell it to get his 7 - not saying I'd do it, but I guess if you're already paying for Apple Care for this kind of service level, why not eh?

yea.. they obviously caught wind of people (like myself) just destroying their phones and paying slightly more for a brand new replacement as opposed to a screen repair

My last phone I dented the body where the glass meets the bezel enough that they replaced the entire phone. It already had a dent there but I just made it more prounounced so the glass would no longer seat against the bezel completely.

I had planned to dunk it in a bucket of water but they replaced it no problem due to the dent anyways

Can't find any 7 Plus Jet Black 128gb, my note 4 is finally acting up.

GG 11-04-2016 12:09 PM

how is everyones reception with iphone 7 plus?

i am on rogers, and i notice that the person I am talking to on the phone will get on/off reception while talking to me, numerous of my friends have reported this issue.

My gf is on rogers with iphone 7 and her phone seems to be just fine, do i have a lemon or other people experiencing similar poor call quality with their iphone

Armind 11-04-2016 12:33 PM

^ My buddy has that issue too

Hondaracer 11-04-2016 12:41 PM

I've had sketchy reception here and there even when it shows 3/4 dots

Also my 7+ seems to like to reset on its own fairly frequently. Not a hard reset like going back to the apple screen but go black with the loading circle then kick back to the unlock screen

how did he resolve it?

for me doesnt matter where i go, as long as i make a phone call , in the car, open field, in my house (not a basement)

person im talking to will say holly shit my reception sucks dude, other friend says its on/off + static noise

so its like WTF?

i doubt its ROgers, i came from note 7 with rogers and it had perfect clear reception

this can all hapeen between 2-5 dots reception
even at 4 dots it still cut off

Iceman_2K 11-04-2016 01:33 PM

Weird that you mention that cause my friend's 6s plus has done the same thing for a bit. I've not seen it happen on my 6s yet. Is it still happening?

I didn't even break mine. When I had the Iphone 5s. I just did the whole online thing saying WiFi always cuts in and out. Did thier online troubleshooting and didn't help. Went in store and reset my phone. Then I complain and went back in a week later saying I still have the same issue. The guy just gave me a new phone. To be honest though there was no dents or stretch on it. I just wanted to use the applecare since I pay for it and is about to expire mind as well get a new phone.

But honestly I don't think I will ever buy another iphone. With the 3.5mm headphone ack gone I think it was a mistake. I don't use bluetooth headphones (Hate charting it and also audio quality isn't as good as some of the weird headphones). Also with wired headphones there are more selection to pick from. I also don't want use their lighting to 3.5mm cable it seems like they jsut did it to make you pay for it once the included one is broken.

What I did was plug in the adapter in my headphones so a) I don't lose it and b) it's no an inconvenience. Unless you use multiple headphones I can't see this being a problem

Anyone Notice animation lag when switching apps or opening and closing apps?

Seems to be not smooth as rather choppy.

Gucci Mane 11-06-2016 10:51 AM

Lol @happsilp. Getting rid of the headphone jack is going to make them multi millions of dollars licensing the lightning connector to accessory companies. It's nothing more than a smart business move. Is it really surprising that Apple is worth as much as they are?

After seeing this article - https://appadvice.com/post/iphone-jet-black-case/735306 - I went and bought one of the Totallee Scarf cases for my matte black iPhone 7.

https://www.totalleecase.com/product...nt=33824162054

After using an Apple leather case for the past 3 months, it's a nice change of scenery. I love the jet black look without actually needing to worry about scratching the phone up.

Since it's an ultra-thin case, it doesn't offer any real drop protection. I don't recommend it if you're clumsy with your phone.

A little pricy for what it is, but I'm pretty satisfied.

I ordered the knockoff versions from eBay, so I will compare them when they arrive in the mail. If they're like the similar ones I've seen in Crystal Mall, then they will probably be the same (minus an small overlap where the camera resides).

Hondaracer 02-01-2017 08:20 AM

I've had my matte black phone with no case on it for 5 months now and the back has zero scratches on it which is super surprising.

I've dropped it out of my pocket sitting in my truck onto pavement, a few hard drops at home on the floor etc, and still no scratches

I'm super happy I went with the matte instead of the jet black, jet black seems like bullshir and looks shitty when it's covered in finger prints etc the matte looks so much nicer imo

Iceman_2K 02-01-2017 09:36 PM

I got a knockoff from eBay and you're right, its not much protection at all for drops. It does feel pretty nice in the hand though, as the phone is almost naked.

My old Apple leather case has gotten a weird texture over the past three months no matter how often I clean it. It has become uncomfortable to hold.

The new jet black case with its glossy finish has almost a silicon-like feel. Even if the case is like a few mm thick, it feels similar to one of those Mercury/Goosperry jelly cases.

I ordered the matte black case from Totallee as well off of Amazon, and comparing the two, the texture is different. The matte one has a soft grainy feel.

In terms of overall feel, I'd say that jet black > matte black > stock in the hand.

Iceman_2K 02-02-2017 08:09 PM

Yeah mine is the matte finish...its a bit easier to grip for sure. When i was playing with the gloss black phone at the Apple Store, it managed to slip out of my hand a few times onto the table.

I've been using this since day 1 of buying the 7 Plus and it's honestly one of the best iPhone cases I've used. Protects from day to day scratches and minor drops at home and in the car. I can't even tell it's there except for the texture of the case.
