You do this after signing horvat first

pastarocket 06-28-2017 07:40 PM

Benning is busy working the phones: :considered:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/n...allas-coyotes/

-from the article: A handful of impending UFAs have been linked to Vancouver, though one never knows if the interest is mutual.

In addition to Alzner, Benning has reportedly made calls on Toronto defenceman Matt Hunwick, team-less Nail Yakupov, and Philadelphia centre Jordan Weal.

Tim Budong 06-28-2017 10:27 PM

dont think a team will throw that offer sheet

just like how Stamkos didnt get any

Gumby 06-28-2017 11:11 PM

Most UFAs that "show interest in Vancouver" end up signing elsewhere. The ones we end up with are the ones nobody else wants. :troll:

They were at Burnaby 8 rinks a few weeks back scouting or holding try outs for young Chinese prospects haha.

Also Mike Keenan is their coach.

6o4__boi 06-29-2017 08:20 AM

Doesn't that KHL team in China have like 3 Chinese players in total haha

dbaz 06-29-2017 09:11 AM

edm buying out pouliot. will be 4years with a 1.33 cap hit

pastarocket 06-29-2017 09:30 AM

Bonino, Bonino,Bonino, Nick Bo-neeeen-noooo! :troll:

Bonino is getting interest from 10 teams:

Darren Dreger
✔ ‎@DarrenDreger

Many teams in the market for a center have connected with Nick Bonino. At least 10 teams are said to have serious interest at this stage.

Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports the Blue Jackets are among those 10 teams.

i find it puzzling that it's still so common to see GM's get caught up in the FA frenzy and sign mediocre players to stupid money and stupid term

it's a high-risk low-reward scenario most of the time and it ends up usually hampering the team

when was the last time someone signed on FA day actually made a huge impact for the duration of their contract?

Lucic was good in the first, but he's got 5 more years. Eriksson was a disaster and will be for years to come.

Nabatron 06-29-2017 09:34 AM

Canucks talking to Anders Nilsson who played with sabres and was teammate with markstrom at World Juniors in 2010

also they are talking to a D Paul Postma I guess he is a good 7th or 8th D man. Wondering were all these 7th or 8th d man are going to play like Subban(if he gets a shot), Pedan, Holm, Biega ect...

Maybe some GMs get caught in the hype of the free agent frenzy?

I agree with you on the high risk low-reward scenario. Don't some of these NHL GMs realize that it's not like they're going to a summer clearance sale to buy quality products at 50% off or more? :lawl:

Nabatron 06-29-2017 09:38 AM

What JB should be doing is taking gambles on yak, wheal and other young guys and sign them to "show me what you can do" contracts if they pan out then great if not no loss try to trade them or put them on waivers...

dbaz 06-29-2017 09:38 AM

hartnell to be bought out. would sign

I think a part of it is job retention...
Sometimes the short term can save them the job, even if the team suffers long term. Ultimately, it's not their problem.

slicrick 06-29-2017 09:46 AM

TBT, when the Flyers tried to sign Weber with that huge offer sheet which he accepted but Nashville matched. Nashville had already lost Suter in free agency 2 weeks earlier leaving them basically without a choice.

Weber agrees to 14-year offer with Flyers - NHL.com

6o4__boi 06-29-2017 09:46 AM

Sedin Sedin Hartnell

weren't they pretty good at the all star game like 6 years ago? haha
maybe they could turn back the clock a little for each other

i'd imagine there'd be lots of interest with Hartnell though...and that he'd want to sign with a contender for a shot at the cup

wouldn't be surprised if Yak goes unsigned and ends up going for a PTO

Nabatron 06-29-2017 09:55 AM

I would legit take a flyer on Yak I mean whats there to lose with the Canucks right now? Sign him for league minimum put him on the PP see what happens. I mean this is a team that was practically dead last and need help with scoring.

murd0c 06-29-2017 10:09 AM

I agree about Yak, from the sounds of things he's a hard worker and a good team mate but just doesn't have it all in the head. Maybe he will finally realize this is his last chance and turn things around like Kass did in Edmonton.

Nabatron 06-29-2017 10:15 AM

^exactly what canucks going to lose with signing him? Unless Linden thinks he will be a bad influence on the other young guys. You know linden was the one who ran kass and lack out of town. I could be forgetting others but seems like Linden is a no non sense kind of guy lol

dbaz 06-29-2017 10:26 AM

I would prefer weal over yakupov. yakupov isn't even an nhl player now, everyones just obsessed because of his juniors and his draft position. weal at least showing he belonged in the nhl last year, and has produced at every level

Nabatron 06-29-2017 10:42 AM

^take both yak and weal lol....

As for hanzel and stone meh.....

6o4__boi 06-29-2017 10:54 AM

Hanzal's gonna get overpaid somehwere...hopefully not the Canucks

didn't he end Hank's iron man streak and injured like 2 other Canuck in the same game a couple years back haha

On top of the blatant high stick that was called a goal, yes.

Carolina is currently carrying 3 goaltenders making at least $2.75M (Darling, Ward, and Lack).

I'd try to get Lack and an asset back to help alleviate their payroll. He's good friends with Markstrom and he was well-liked by teammates and fans, too. UFA at the end of next season, so can either let him walk or re-sign him to a more appropriate contract.
