How do you explain that were there are government owned mobile providers (SaskTel, Videotron etc) you can get 7GB data plans for $49 to match what the other providers are selling, whereas in other provinces you have to pay $120 for the same plans? |
I learned long ago not to complain about the game... just join the winning side. If you think oil and telecom companies are gouging prices then why not get in on the action? I own enough shares in energy stocks that the dividends more than cover my gas costs. Same with Rogers and Telus shares. I'm essentially getting them to pay my bills. This is more than likely a temporary blip. There's a few weeks a year when they shut down the refineries to make the switch over to winter blend. |
If only there was a pipeline to get more supply to the area. |

get a Nexus and vote with your wallet...boycott the carbon tax..or go electric I even got a $10/mo T-mobile family line for data when i travel abroad so Rogers can shove it 'buy local' is BS when you have to pay through the nose for no good reason...we're not some inaccessible community up in the high mountains/middle of the vast ocean...we have a refinery right in the city for crying out loud |

I assure you, I guaran-fucking-tee that I have far more money invested in the fuel companies than a lot of people, and my dividends are not even close to covering my costs. Exxon Mobil has a current share price of 83.87 USD, and has a quarterly dividend of $0.75/share. Simple math says that every year you will receive $3usd in dividends per share. So to cover $1000 in fuel costs, you'll need $27,956 in shares. My fuel costs are over $15k/yr. So shut the fuck up with this regurgitated garbage that you read on reddit. For the record, your idiocy just triggered me. |

If any of you bank at RBC you can get 3 cents off a liter if you link your RBC debit or credit card to your petro points card. You will also get 20 bonus in petro points and RBC rewards. |
Logically, gas will be more expensive in places that have high real estate prices. I'm not sure if most or all gas station locations are purchased or leased but they are usually in the most expensive spots that can be rezoned for housing development. Property tax is a big factor whether its leased or bought. I would expect that gas stations here carry a much higher operating cost than anywhere else in North America hence the reason why our gas price is this high compared to others. Still beats getting gas in Hong Kong which is close to double of what we're paying at $1.40/L. |

Many are deluded into thinking it's the 'greatest place on Earth' and therefore live by that mantra. A lot of rich people live here and a lot of middle class people try to look rich to fit in. It's classic stupidity. |

Canadians spend, on average, 3.245% of their income on gas. About $1510 per person, per year. Sorry, but just because you spend a ridiculous $15K/year on fuel does not mean everyone do too. To make $1510/year in dividends is totally viable. Your argument is flawed. |
the thing with special markets like hong kong or monaco is how tiny they are...they don't nearly have to drive as far as their north american counterpart |
Godamn it. Just since this thread was posted gas jumped another 10cents to 133.9. The highest it's ever been in Smithers. That's up 20cents in 2 weeks. Almost a 20% increase in 2 weeks. Bullshit. Berz out. |

My main energy holdings are HNY, SUN and ETP. All of which pay over 10% yield. $25k in holdings is enough dividend to pay for my gas. Typically I spend maybe $200-250/month on gas. Even if you don't have enough to cover all your costs, it's at least subsidizing your costs. |
My wife does trading and ill tell you right now she doesnt even care about dividends. She had a 28.8% return last year and she only buys and sells a few choice stocks. She made like 40k this year on Air Canada stocks alone... after cap gains i guess it aint much, but still im proud of the dingbat. |
The worst part is last week I was pissed off that gas went from 109.9 to 119.9 Now this week it jumps to 133.9 and I get a text that 1 of the 3 gas stations in town is still 119.9 and I was like "Sweet I should go fill up quick!" I was actually HAPPY to pay 119.9 FUCK YOU GAS COMPANIES!!! Berz out. |

Does anyone have a spread sheet showing the price of oil and the price of gas and the correlations between the 2? You'll see a pretty sad and obvious fact. Gas prices have NOTHING to do with Oil prices per Barrel. So how and why can they arbitrarily raise prices at any time for any amount? Berz out. |
