Speaking of OLED, you can now get the LG B7/C7 for $2000 55" and 3000" 65"

That's about as good as it'll get if you're looking to get an OLED soon.

I think the B7 is going for 1500 in the states. After conversion, it's, 1948.7.

why do you keep saying its "way cheaper" in the states? not sure which model and website you're looking at but after fx conversion, its not "way cheaper", its about the same

the sony's x900E works out to $200 cheaper and the 65" is roughly $350 cheaper

that's pretty decent in my mind.

Is that after duties? I'm assuming it's not made in America so it won't be just taxes there will be duty on top?

I think they're made in Mexico so still falls under NAFTA. You'd still have to pay taxes though coming up right?

I can't see where after conversion it's still cheaper to get it in the states. I probably would have if it was that much cheaper.

^ I know its a nitpicky issue, but be careful buying a TV or other electronics in the USA, they have way lower standards than Canada for electronics safety certification and I actually personally know someone who had their home insurance voided when their TV started a fire and it was discovered they bought their TV in the USA and it wasn’t approved to Canadian standards. Always check for which countries they’re approved for use in.

So your telling me they make special versions of TV's just for Canada?

I bought some GPU's from newegg.ca but they shipped from the US should I be worried?

All electronics need to have a CSA stamp or certification from a lab such as QAI etc to be approved for Canadian consumers as far as I know.

I probably wouldn’t be too worried but there is obviously a reason these things go through laboratory testing to have approval

It could be the identicle TV, but that version of that model wasn’t tested for sale in Canada.

Home insurance generally requires CSA or cUL certification in Canada. Certified that it meets the standards set out in the Canadian Electrical Code.

sounds like it's a real cop-out from the insurance company

almost every consumer electronics I've used are designed for North American usage universally. As pointed out, most of the big companies are shipping from US warehouse...and support/warranty are also done State-side.

sounds awfully similar to the claims US-market cars are built to lesser-standards, dairy is full of chemicals

and when's the last time you heard a TV caught on fire? Tube TV days left on for days on end?

I have no doubt that US food regulation is inferior to Canadian.

1 weekend in the US eating their food, and a bunch of my friends and I break out in acne. At the very least, feel like grease.

Do the math again.

As for duties, nexus will generally work in your favor. I also have no issue going down for the weekend and upping my allowance.

I have and I still don't see where the $300 in savings come from unless I'm really missing something.

55" $999 USD * 1.088 (WA Sales Tax) * 1.27 = $1380.38 CAD. You're only really saving $75 since it is still rumored to be $1299 CAD for most retailers I think.

This isn't even considering the tax you'll have to pay bringing it back. No duties since it falls under NAFTA.

+1, make sure to sort by "New" to make sure you don't miss anything. Default is to sort by Hot (combination of upvotes and freshness).
