If you have the list of displays I wouldn't mind getting it to see where to take the kids.

Done :)

Stanley Park Train issues. Sold out in 90 minutes, lol. Lots of people pissed off.

Parks Board has added more carts (or whatever they call them) and more runs and now goes till January 6th or something like that.

You must reserve your tickets. They go on sale at 9:00 am today (waiting room opens at 8:30). There is no show up and get on board anymore. That's so 2012, gulolol................

Info on the ride on regular days (Not Bright Nights).

The people who were pissed off the most were people who just showed up thinking they could buy tickets on the spot and hop on board.

The only lineups you'll see in this city is at the bread lines on Cordova Street in the DTES. Sign O' the Times.

yep, we tried. I have the (almost) complete ride on my YouTube channel when we took it last time. 2 or 3 Baileys coffee's, and away you go. I'd love to do that again with the fam damily.

Mmmmmmmm........... Baileys anything does it for me. Butt.............no honey crullers. I'm not a fan of them.

Speaking of which, I went to this hole in the wall doughnut shoppe in North Van yesterday called, "Harmony Donuts." No crullers, thank god, but interesting place and good donuts (the cake kind).

For the love of Amelia Earhart's Little Red Bus.................. I was in the Safeway on McBride Blvd. Browsed the bakery and for shits and giggles tried to look for some Bubly. No Bublé to be seen. Then in another, unrelated to drinks, aisle, I see a huge display of Michael Bublé's Merry Berry Bubly. We're talking at least a hundred of them. Anyhow tried it last night. Holy Horny Toads, how does anybody drink sparkling water? It was so bad I had to gargle with, yup, you guessed it, Bailey's. Pulled my head back, stuck my tongue out and let the stuff evaporate. Burned a bit, but got that taste out of there.

Having said that, this morning, I forced myself to finish the can. After a while, I was like. It's really not that bad. It's not like it was Buckley's or anything. And......... as I was taking in the last sip, I saw that the pull tab that was aubergine in colour had a tiny, "ho ho," on it. Nice touch, tee hee.

Tried my PC and phone at the same time by entering the queue at 830. On my phone got in finally at around 940 and scored 4 tix for tonight. On my PC I was just about to enter the ticket buying session then they paused it and eventually said sold out.

Yeah sounds like we both were "randomized" into the queue around the same time. The only times left were around 930 pm onwards and thats too late for us. Wife's phone was still in queue and paused/sold out.

MG1 11-30-2023 02:49 PM

So, when you guys say sold out, does that mean just for the day?

What if someone wants to go on the 20th of December? Not that I want to go..................

I've been collecting these snow globe candle holders from Bath & Body works for the last few years. Every year, they introduce a new snow globe collectable. On Black Friday, I looked around for one and was told that they don't have one this year. I was kind of bummed out. I got the usual car fragrance refills (buy 3 get 3 free), and some wallflower refills. Got another $10.00 off coupon. Fast forward to Cyber Monday. They had 40% off everything in store promo. I went to the Metrotown location to see if they had any Winter Candy Apple, another favourite christmas fragrance for the car. They did, so I was happy. Then, on the way to pay for my stuff, I came across a snow globe candle holder I've never seen before. Anyway, I grabbed it without checking it closely. Price tag of $89.95. A little on the expensive side, but with 40% off and a further $10.00 off via the coupon, I was happy as a clam in a cool lagoon. Got home to start it up............... the damn thing was defective. three of the lights were broken and the top looked like someone wiped the top with toilet paper (with shit still on it). I remember not seeing any others in the store. Still it was a very nice looking piece. On Tuesday, I went to the Bath & Body Works in Bellis Fair. They had a new one. Price? $89.95 USD. WTH? Anyway, today, I went to see if I could get my money back. I had lost my receipt, but the girl over the phone told me not to worry. Just talk to a manager. To make a longer story shorter, I found a new one that was on the table behind the counter. I guess they just got new ones in. Exchange successful. Yay!!

I now have all three of the snow globes that this lady has in the first part of her video (4:59). It's even nicer in real life. So happy............... yeah, judge me all you want. Me a happy camper.

my friend who is tight with the parks board / stanley park says a few of the trains aren't working so they are in mad rush in fixing them.

acrophobia 11-30-2023 08:43 PM

99% done! Just over 16,000 pixels synchronized to music, 52 inflatables, close to 10,000 static led lights, 2 giant skeletons, and lots of other random decorations.

Popped a few breakers on the main panel last night...hopefully not a sign of things to come! :lol

Also re Bright Lights the entire event is sold out so you've got to wait for next year.

MG1 12-01-2023 10:20 AM

Thanks. I was tempted to go. I think daughter wanted to go to the market at Jack Poole Plaza. I’ve been there once when they first started years ago.

Is it worth going to?

I don't want to come off as one of those everything is lame people but having a 9 and 4 year old I've gone to countless of these seasonal events in the past 9 years. Easter, Halloween, Christmas just to name a few and the majority of the time I walk away feeling that it was a waste of time and money. We as parents go for the kids though right and well sometimes they walk away feeling the same way. The Jack Poole one we went in the early days when they started and I guess they had fun feeling the Christmas vibe, getting their hot chocolate and such but if I had to dig deep in terms of what actual activities were available that were truly worth going for either the kids or parents I would say it wasn't anything special. It has been some years since I went though, is it any better now? I don't know but just my 2 cents overall.

Hondaracer 12-01-2023 02:18 PM

We always buy season passes to the Jack Poole one, go twice and it pays itself off.

Mostly just drinking beer/mulled wine and eating. It’s somthing to do

My family is watching this right now :)

Dec 1 means its time to bust out the classics like Home Alone 1/2, Christmas Vacation, Elf...good times ahead!

MG1 12-01-2023 07:12 PM

Actually, half way through it, ATM. It's not that bad.......... Eddie Murphy wants his movie to become one of the classics. Okay, not gonna lie. It's bad as bad can get. I guess kids might like it. Corny. Nuff said.

Ooooh, that would be so cool! A small one that cruises in between the pixel props in the yard. Time to research!
