another big fan of jj... i'm normally at the one on alberni, and it's more consistent than most of the 3rd wave shops tbh. also their food is much better than the small shops, and it's not a ripoff. you can get a very filling wrap and a salad for $10.
Any of these places are pretty good place for coffees
Spade on Commercial Drive
Pallet
Nemesis
49th Parallel
Went to Rocanini Coffee Roasters last week and enjoyed their cortado. Most/all of these places are generally pretty newb friendly as well. just tell them what kind of coffee you generally like, and they'll recommend you something more to your palate.

Pretty sure anyone who is okay with a double double is NOT cross shopping those hipster joints lol
hmm personally i gotta disagree with moja.. at least based on my 2 experiences there.
both times i had a SOUR cappuccino. it was undrinkable..
i find it's pretty hard to get real consistency, but a few places tend to do it better, like revolver and timbertrain have both been pretty good for me, but i don't go that often cause it's out of the way. i haven't been to a lot of the newer trendy places though that have popped up in the last few years. i liked BxA for a few months then it just went downhill, plus i think the owner is super pretentious, or at least he always acts that way.
Screw the coffee, Timmies is about the donuts and Timbits. Anytime you go to a meeting or meet up with friends and you need to bring something it's Timmies donuts. Their cheap enough and always available.
Maybe this Napoleon would have been able to correct her, when she confirmed his order at the point of sale, if he had removed is earbuds. Just a thought.
