I understand that it's hard, especially if you have a family already or established friend group in the area. But it shouldn't be "not an option" ... It's not like in China and other countries where you don't have freedom of mobility. Hell, why not just move to a smaller town with low COL but also much safer, and work a McDonalds job there and start saving?

I'm genuinely curious on people's thoughts on this.

Maybe they don't feel like they should be run out of town. Maybe their family's lived generations their. Maybe they're hard headed. Maybe they value principles above life.
And maybe they're just stupid.
I'm sure there are many reasons beyond inability.

You do know Canada is a nation of immigrants, people who moved half way around the world for a better life.

Wasn't making excuses.
Just offering alternative explanations.

I see our liberal government has their finger on the pulse of the scourge of gang related homicides.
Up exponentially since they've come to power, I might add

OTTAWA – The federal government is set to introduce a much-anticipated and potentially controversial gun control bill early next week that will include measures to boost screening for prospective gun owners CTV News has learned.

Government sources tell CTV News’ Don Martin that the bill, expected to be tabled Tuesday, will take aim at keeping firearms away from people with mental illness, and out of the hands of those with violent backgrounds.

It is also expected to force gun shop retailers to validate a gun licence before completing the purchase, and to keep the name of gun buyers on file.
The coming legislation will also leave it to police to make the call on which currently restricted weapons should be put on the prohibition list.

Sounds totally reasonable to me.

Yes, this should tamp down gang violence immensely (what it's being sold to address).

If only there were already screening for obtaining a license with known mental or violence issues..

Brace for a possible ban on semi-autos. Except for criminals, of course. They don't much care for bans.

Exactly.
It benefits the RCMP greatly to have an unarmed population. Like you said, criminals don't give a damn about bans or laws. It only affects us regular folk who would never fathom the thought of taking a life.
:okay:

Fuck Trudeau.

To those who don't own guns, it makes no difference. That's why they don't care.

Thank you.
I'm not even an advocate of the whole "good guys with guns" concept. The average gun owner is more likely to take out an innocent than to "blast" some gangsta with his gat.

That said, I wonder if this guy would still be alive if he had a gun?
Or his wife had been trained in the proper use of a firearm?

Murdered Surrey realtor fought to give family time to hide, wife says

The 42-year-old Surrey man who was gunned down during a home invasion last weekend fought to give his family more time to hide, according to a heartbreaking message from his wife.

It was shortly before midnight Sunday when local realtor Colin Hill discovered someone trying to break into their home on 64th Avenue near 166th Street.

Few details of the ensuing struggle have been released by police, but Hill’s wife posted a message to Facebook early Tuesday painting him as a hero who sacrificed himself for his family’s safety.

He was the “very best husband a person could ever ask for,” Becky Zhou wrote.

Zhou said her husband tried blocking their door to keep the intruder outside the house, but lost the struggle. He then yelled out a warning that the robber was armed, and tried to force the trespasser back outside to give his loved ones an opportunity to find a safe place.

Hill was fatally shot and died at the scene.

The thug didn't care that you're not allowed to parade around the lower mainland with a pistol.

But I sure do... Why? Because I'm a lawful gun owner. I know the rules and I abide by them.
But you're willing to change our tough gun laws, because of something that happened in America?

idiots...

I have lots of logical arguments, but you're just not worth them. Really, I've gone far enough in this thread. You're either for the freedom to possess firearms, or you're not. Nothing said here will change that. So instead, I'm going to call you a couple of fags. Mainly because that's what you're being right now.

Please leave myself, and the other 2 million gun owners alone. We're not a threat. Unless you're a pop can or paper target.

Had a so called regular guy who legally owned a hand gun shoot and kill his wife 15 feet from where I was working because he thought a .25 cent bullet was cheaper then a divorce. He drove by and shot her right in front of his daughter. One of the 7 kids she had.

Until this guy shot his wife he was lawful gun owner and would have been considered a good guy with a gun.

And if he didn't use a gun, he would have cut her brake lines, or stabbed her, or hit her with a hammer when she slept. That's not a normal human being. That's a psychopath who fell through the cracks.

I support making it a harder to get your gun license. That said, once I've proven that I'm not a nutbar, I'd appreciate it if I was left alone.

For the record, I also think they should be retesting drivers after a certain time period.

This liberal bullshit will do nothing to stop criminals from getting the kinds of hardware that legal gun owners could only dream of under the current laws. Tightening the noose on licensing and transport regulations does nothing against people who literally do not care. Humanity has seen it all before with every kind of prohibition ever thrust upon a population, alcohol, drugs, and firearms alike.

The RCMP is the last gang of thugs I'd trust to regulate anything, they can barely keep themselves out of a lawsuit.

He did not fall thru the cracks. He got the gun a long time ago and then got into a car accident that caused him to become mentally unstable.

You think gun owners should have to go thru mental evaluations every few years?

welfare 03-21-2018 04:43 AM

Passing legislation based off of single cases is completely illogical.
Show the correlation between legal gun owners and violent crime.
Show the evidence.

What solution do you propose that would have prevented that incident?

I like the new statute that goes back beyond the 5 years, and ensures that if you were nuts 6 years ago, that it's taken into account.

Also, I had to register my garbage trailer. Literally, a trailer that I have to haul away brush and garbage. So why the outrage about having to register a gun? I have no issues with that at all, as it's been shown that legal PAL owners have purchased new guns for criminals.

The freedom we have to buy new guns is awesome. Tavor, BMG50, Kriss Vectors, CZ and VZ rifles, Scorpions, and M1 are all awesome and no restricted. What threw me off was this picture releases by the police after busting a drug house in Abbotsford last week.

https://i.cbc.ca/1.4574893.152097925...x9_620/apd.png

That's a TAR-21 Tavor bullpup rifle, and it's in the more rare FDE color. $2500 from pretty much any gun store. To see a legitimate rifle in the hands of criminals is a little scary. It's not the standard SKS, 870 pump or Glock .40 that you usually see in these busts.
