The one that Trump did, a bill has already passed by congress, though will not pass the senate in its current form, and they were already in the middle of negotiating with Trump's team in making amendments so it would pass in the senate, BUT then he ordered his team to stop talking immediately and then say no further talks until the election, and only if he wins.

Back in the 90s there was a lot of discussion about the role of private American militias not under the oversight of the United States Department of Defense.

There were problems like Ruby Ridge, the Branch Davidians, and the Oklahoma City Bombing. They had a few commonalities.

1 - Groups or persons who rejected the authority of the US government
2 - An unhealthy suspicion of the government
3 - They take up arms/amass weapons to fight the "big gubmint" or for "proteshun"
4 - "Master Race"

The Michigan Militia in particular became prominent because of its association with Timothy McVeigh (of the earlier mentioned Oklahoma City Bombing) and the perceived association with White Nationalism.

There are legal entanglements that are involved with constitutional rights, states rights, blah blah blah that make groups like this legal so they are tolerated until shit like this happens. Then there is a conversation, people with more gravy than blood in their veins scream about "Free Speech" and "Second Amendment" blah blah blah. Then it quiets down, everyone forgets about it, and nothing is really solved.

These people will never go away. They believe they are right and will wait for their moment to "strike" at the government, just as we saw in the recent news cycle.

And don't think those kinds of people are limited to 'murica. They're in Canada too.
