I guess the amendment to the constitution that was added in 1791 doesn’t really account for online interaction through a privately owned social network. Maybe it’s time for an update.

SkinnyPupp 10-17-2020 02:44 PM

I agree that social media is a new thing that maybe deserves different consideration than a typical "bulletin board" where people can share their opinions on things.

They've become the defacto "town square" for not just America, but the entire world (well, where it's not banned by other govts at least). It's where literally everyone with access has a voice, and maybe those rights need to be protected in a different way than "just a private spot where what we say goes". It's really weird.

Manic! 10-17-2020 03:36 PM

Well we are at it lets also fix the second amendment.

This dude is so shady. Wanted by CCP for a whole list of crime. Claim he is anti-ccp but he made his fortune by using CCP connection. The research institute he hire to dig dirt on CCP, turned onto him and said he had them investigated a bunch of American spy in China.

Maybe he is double spy. Possibly playing both China and USA:lol

Well Biden was the co-pilot during the Obama years. Just ask the Yemeni.

If you can find any that are still alive...

I wouldn't be surprised, iirc he admits to being a part of the ccp corruption, it's just that they set his sights on him so he took off, probably working both sides to try and get back into the good graces of Xi

Their argument will be that Twitter, Gab, and other online bulletin boards are microblogging sites. The poster's content can be protected as expressing their opinion instead of reporting facts. There is no responsibility on the poster to be balanced, accurate, or even truthful. Remember the popularity of the word "truthiness" which came out of the Bush era?

If I read something online it doesn't HAVE to be true, it just has to FEEL true.

They say all politics is local.

One gives a master class on how to answer a debate question the other completely fails.

Manic! 10-18-2020 07:51 PM

IMO FB/Twitter better hope that no Republicans ever take presidency/majority again because after what happened, the section 230 is looking shaky as hell.

They won't let them have it both ways... that platform enjoys immunity from contents while they can be the gatekeeper about what's being shared.

SkinnyPupp 10-18-2020 09:31 PM

I find that statement funny because Facebook is promoting right wing news and limiting left wing ones LUL

TBF Iowas main crop is corn they harvest 5X more corn than they do soy, and soy has gone on a slight decline, ethanol, turkeys, chickens, eggs, pigs, etc r bigger business than soy for iowa (quick google)

So maybe they can forgive her for not knowing the stats on soy off the top of her head, but it does look bad on the face of it :lol

68style 10-18-2020 10:34 PM

I think it came up cuz that’s what China hit back on when Trump started throwing his tariffs around... so she should know

El Bastardo 10-19-2020 06:33 AM

Yeah, soy is still a major crop for folks up there in the midwest. They used to make some pretty decent bank exporting it but since trade has been bad, they've been getting screwed over

Don't take his word for it. Just listen to what the moderators themselves say.

It works both ways. But lefties don't have that many issues with such "limitation" because it's usually in their favor.

welfare 10-19-2020 11:03 AM

The arbiters of antifascism and antiracism, over the weekend, standing in support of censorship.
This guy whose teeth were knocked out has since had his Twitter and Instagram accounts suspended.
I guess the black man should have known his place.

mikemhg 10-19-2020 11:20 AM

^Dude give it up, what do these videos prove?

For every video you post of an "antifa" rally with violence, one can post a video of the Proud Boy, Boogaloos, you name it doing the same thing.

What does that prove exactly? No one agrees there should be violence in the streets, period. Don't try to act like such instances aren't occurring at either rallies, what point are you trying to portray.

i mean for someone who is part of the department of agriculture in a state like iowa, that's sort of something that you should at least be able to ballpark.

being off by 100% is like working in the dairy industry and thinking milk is $10 a gallon.
