President Donald Trump dropped a bomb on Air Force One Tuesday, telling reporters that Jeffrey Epstein “stole” an employee from the spa at Mar-a-Lago — saying he “thinks” Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre was one of the people he hired away.
After three weeks of the Trump administration trying to bury the promised mountain of information on deceased sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, the heat just keeps going up. At every turn, Trump’s efforts to quash the story have only intensified interest in it, and deepened Trump’s own association with it.
As the president made his way to Turnberry, Scotland and his “Trump Turnberry” resort, Trump was still being peppered with questions about the scandal. The questions have followed him everywhere he’s gone during the trip, as reporters questioned him about developments like the potential pardoning of Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
REPORTER: Mr. President. Epstein has a certain reputation, obviously. I’m just curious, were some of the workers that were taken from you, were some them young women?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Some of them?
REPORTER: Were some of them young woman?
Well, I don’t want to say, but everyone knows. The people that were taken and it was the concept of taking people that work for me is bad but that story’s been pretty well out there and the answer is yes they were in the spa people that worked in this spa, I have a great spa one of the best spas in the world at Mar-a-Lago.
And people were taken out of the spa, hired by him. In other words, gone. And other people would come and complain, this guy is taking people from the spa. I didn’t know that. And then when I heard about it, I told him. I said, listen, we don’t want you taking our people, whether it was spa or not spa. I don’t wanna take your people. And he was fine. And then not too long after that, he did it again. And I said out of here.
REPORTER: Mr. President, did one of those stolen, um, you know, persons that include Virginia Giuffre?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Uh, I don’t know. I think she worked at the spa. I think so. I think that was one of the people, yeah.
He stole her.
And, by the way, she had no complaints about us, as you know, none whatsoever.
The pass that American media gives Trump for his mental state is incredible considering how much shit they gave Biden for stuttering or mis-stating things from time to time - so much shit that Biden had to step down (which he should have done on his own).
Media can't distinguish between what is Trump just lying like he always does or his making statements that demonstrate his lack of mental acuity. When was the last time Trump was able to make a coherent statement about any Presidential topic? Yet there's no coverage that Trump is deeply unwell (much less that he's a tyrant).
It isn't so much that American media is giving Trump a pass for his mental state. Rather, it is the very real threat that if any of them dare to challenge Trump too much, point out the obvious flaws and blatant lies, or otherwise tick him off, there is a more than 50% chance that Trump would really go after them or their news organization by suing their a$$es.
Recall that both ABC and Disney settled with Trump. I forgot which one it was, but at least one of them had a fairly strong case against Trump's frivolous lawsuit. But regardless of how strong a case people might have against Trump, the fact of the matter is, Trump is entirely willing to weaponize his personal / familial wealth, the legal system, his executive power, and most importantly, the pos SCOTUS to terrorize any American or American enterprise.
It is exactly the same reason why the general public is afraid of dictators.

PHILLIP: But why won’t Trump, Trump rule out pardoning her? Why are they even talking to her about an immunity deal? Why?
O’LEARY: Okay. If any of you cared about the victims, you wouldn’t drag these women who are in childbearing years now, some of them having children, back into the limelight, back into the same story, to expose them again to this hideous outcome because these guys —
MILLS: Because if you don’t —
(CROSSTALKS)
MILLS: They could be doing it to somebody else right now, as we say here on T.V.
O’LEARY: They don’t want you to help them anymore. They want to — CROSS: How do you know that? What are you basing that on?
O’LEARY: I know certainty they’d rather live up their lives than keep being brought back talking about Epstein. You’re really thinking they want that now? They’re done with it.
CROSS: You’re speaking what the half of women saying that you personally spoken to victims who said they do not want justice.
O’LEARY: I have spoken to no one. I’m just being pragmatic.
CROSS: So, then that is an irresponsible statement.
O’LEARY: You’re dragging out women who have —
CROSS: You have no idea what these young women went.
O’LEARY: Don’t you think if it was you, you’d rather get on with your life? Aren’t you done with this?
CROSS: No. If there were me, I want justice pursued.
(CROSSTALKS)
O’LEARY: Money? What do you want? What do you want?
CROSS: (INAUDIBLE) get on with his life?
O’LEARY: The truth is out. There’s a prisoner and there’s a dead guy. That’s the truth, all right? That’s what happened.
CROSS: And that’s the only truth that exists.

Just shows you how unserious these fucking cretins are.
Morning rightwing memo comes in to these assholes: "The narrative now is Maxwell is a victim, and the women involved no longer want to see these men brought to justice, they want to move on."
I've heard all the rightwing pundits parrot the above stance and it's fucking insane how quickly these guys fall in line, even while saying something completely different only weeks ago.
