Hegseth dropped the hammer. OK, I get that things got a bit lax and all and might need a bit of correction but this is going back to the dark ages. There will be so many abuses by macho generals.
The lack of applause by any of the generals throughout the event is hopefully a signal that they don't agree with what was said by Trump and Hegseth. The whole event was pretty disgusting - they're both advocating for turning the military against American citizens.

Military intervention may be the country's last hope to maintain the country's government system and have a chance to recover from this
I didn’t previously know this but found it curious and looked it up, apparently it’s decorum for military commanders to not cheer or applaud or otherwise react to anything at political events as they’re supposed to remain apolitical.
US news
a) Israel 20 point agenda to help.. good luck with that.
b) I deserve noble peace prize LOL... good luck there Trump.
c) gov't shuts down.. i wonder what's going to happen.
d) golden dome again...
let's see what other crazy agenda he's going to pull up in the next press release.
Did you guys hear about this. Argentina has export tariffs of things like grain and poultry. They dropped the tariffs for 2 days and China bought 7 billion dollars worth of soy. US farmers are fckd.
LG workers start heading back to Georgia - article doesn't explicitly confirm what most of us already suspected which is that the Korean workers didn't do anything worthy of being detailed, shackled, and jailed.
Quote:
LG Energy Solution Ltd. will start sending workers from South Korea back to the US for essential business trips less than a month after hundreds of employees were detained in a visa crackdown.
Trips will restart after the Chuseok holiday, which wraps up at the end of next week, LG Energy said in a statement Thursday.
"This decision follows confirmation from the US-Korea working group that holders of short-term commercial (B-1) visas and Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) are permitted to perform equipment installation, inspection, and maintenance at our US factories," the statement said.
...
On Tuesday, Washington and Seoul held an inaugural meeting of their Business Travel and Visa working group in Washington as part of efforts to establish clarity in the US work visa system. Most of the detained workers were on B-1 visas or under a 90-day visa waiver program commonly referred to as ESTA, which doesn't allow for employment but which also doesn't clarify the scope of business allowed.
During the meeting, the US reaffirmed that South Korean companies can use B-1 visas and ESTA for installation, service and repair of equipment, and the two countries agreed to launch a Korea investor desk at the US embassy in Seoul to handle employment issues, Seoul's Foreign Ministry said.
The worst part of that whole thing is that I totally understand if the US government wants to make sure workers are on the up and up abiding by their visas... but there are ways to do this that don't involve showing up at a factory and arresting/shackling everybody and sending them to detention centres.
What was stopping them from quietly requesting paperwork and sending an interview team in and just diplomatically resolving the situation in the background with Hyundai or the South Korean government?

But where is the shock and awe in that? King Trump needs to present himself as a strongman to his MAGA base, that these good-for-nothing "alien" workers are stealing the average US citizen's jobs at factories and shxt, and that he is the only saviour to the 'Muricans.
Now that these little squinty eyed Koreans have gotten their a$$es whooped, they'll know who is the boss and who has all the cards, and will be forever subservient to the Great United States of Trumpy 'Murica~!

IMO the long and short of it is -- Trump is really viewing himself as the King and above the law in his 2nd term. There are still constraints that would prevent him from doing some stuff, but he pretty much view those as mere impediments that can be overcome or otherwise circumvented, instead of hard boundaries that cannot be crossed.
To a large extent, this twisted view of his is not wrong either, since the fxxking POS SCOTUS basically handed him this status to be above the law.
I hope the history books will note this turn of events down, and forever condemn those POS conservative judges (at the SCOTUS) to be the persons responsible that sent the US down this dark, dark path...
Trump is also taking the same view of him being the King and above (international) law, as he uses the economic might of the US to coerce other countries in agreeing to terms that are only favourable to the US.

Yeah, King Turd is telling his underlings to get thousands of federal employees fired from the jobs in order to force the Democrats to cast votes. A total of 7 more Democrat votes are needed to re-open the US federal government from its current shutdown.
A new poll Thursday from the Washington Post tells the tale.
The Post’s poll shows Americans said 71%-29% that they want to extend the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies that Democrats are holding out for.
In other words, Democrats are fighting the Republicans by withholding votes for government funding to run the government until the Republicans extend funding for healthcare subsidies.
Democrats are the ones who withheld their votes from a “clean” continuing resolution to keep the government funded this week. And history suggests that’s the side that usually gets the blame. Americans have overwhelmingly said that shutdown debates are no place to try to force extraneous policy changes.
But at least initially, voters are actually blaming Republicans more.
The poll conducted on Wednesday, the day the shutdown began, showed 47% of Americans believed President Donald Trump and the Republicans were “mainly responsible” for the shutdown, compared to 30% who blamed Democrats.
• Shutdown, day 2: The federal government remains shut down after a deadlocked Congress failed to reach a funding deal. Republicans and Democrats are at odds over enhanced Obamacare subsidies.
• How long will it last? The shutdown is likely to extend into next week. Senate Democrats are expected to block a GOP-backed short-term funding bill again when they vote tomorrow, and the Senate is not expected to be in session this weekend.
• Who’s impacted? The White House — which has said shutdown-related layoffs of federal workers are “imminent” — now says the firings are “likely going to be in the thousands.” Agencies and activities deemed essential are still open, and we’re tracking which programs are affected. Is the shutdown affecting you? Tell us about it.

Using everyday working people as political cannon fodder. Real man of the people.
What's funny about all this is seeing people in videos, like the farmers "Please Mr. Trump, we need help with the soy beans" and thinking he actually gives two shits about them.

I really wonder what happened recently with the US seemingly giving more support to Ukraine.
I’m also seeing a bunch of news about Ukrainian drones hitting pretty deep inside Russia causing insane gas shortages…. Can’t tell if it’s actually true.

This changes depending on who Trump spoke with last but it's generally trending to less support not more. At the UN conference Trump tweeted that he believes that Ukraine needs to get all its land back which is a complete 180 from what he's been saying before (like right after he met with Putin) - the assumption is that he was talking to the EU leaders and got persuaded. After the next meeting with Master Putin he'll reverse course.
Ukraine has been able to hit fairly deep into Russian territory on a regular basis though Russian air defense is catching a lot of drones though - there might have been some short term gas shortages but I haven't seen anything that's long term except for the destruction of a good chunk of Russian bombers a few months back (that was a very cool mission)
What’s crazy is Russian doing so poorly in this war but then flirting with starting more wars with other countries or NATO itself. Putin sees his entire population as expendable, all these fucks probably do.

US sold NOTHING of soya. Trump will go see China in 4 weeks.
35% exports goes to China and to date, none.... nothingggg
so the speaker was super nice and didn't throw trump under the bus.
No we are not asking for hand out
No we are not asking for tariffs reduction
We are asking for foreign trade to be "better"
so pretty much you're being nice asking for solution.. well played.
Brazil and Argentinaaaa... let's goooooo. Fact that China bought from Argentina = no more buying from US... .
China made a statement saying "maybe US should focus more on their tariffs/ trade policies" ahhahahah..

It's a well known behavior with Trump apparently. His decision making process basically boiled down to whomever convinced him last about a subject.

I still can't get over Kushner being able to grift his way into owning EA, it's fucking insane how the Trump family are using the office to completely enrich themselves not only locally, but abroad.
Just days ago Trump announced 100% tariffs on foreign drugs, only to then open his own online pharmacy "TrumpRX", which I'm sure he'll use to find more ways to embezzle money out of the taxpayers.
We're not even a year into his precedency. It's all exhausting.
