Trump's rant and demands were so ludicrous this time that outside of his hardcore MAGA / maple MAGA base in their respective echo chambers, it seems to me that there were actually more people calling him out on his ridiculous demands than his earlier threats. Typically, some amount of Trump supporters would still voice their support for Trump in the less biased social media spaces. But this time, there is noticeably fewer of that happening.
Still, I continue to be amazed that the Conservative base in Canada is still somehow blaming Carney for Trump's outburst. This includes at least 2 Conservative MPs through their Facebook presence, and I am just appalled by how delusional and detached from reality these people are. As MPs, they should be standing up for Canada, esp at moments like this. I would never expect them to defend Carney or the Liberals, but at least show a little moral backbone and integrity, and not try to somehow twist and spin this as a Carney-Liberals failure?!

Carney explained to the Orange cry baby about American workers involved in construction of the bridge between Ontario and Michigan state. Michigan has joint ownership of this bridge:
“I explained that Canada paid for the construction of the bridge — $4 billion — that the ownership is shared between the state of Michigan and the government of Canada,” Carney told reporters in Ottawa, before the weekly cabinet meeting.
The prime minister said he also told Trump Canadian and American steel and workers were involved in the bridge’s construction.
In a social media post late Monday, Trump insisted the U.S. must be compensated before he’ll allow the bridge to open. He claimed the bridge was built with virtually no U.S. content.
“Now, the Canadian Government expects me, as President of the United States, to PERMIT them to just ‘take advantage of America!'” Trump posted. “What does the United States of America get — Absolutely NOTHING!”
In his post, the president repeated misleading allegations about Canada’s dairy sector and its limited tariff deal with Beijing on agriculture products and electric vehicles.
Trump claimed China will “terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada” and “permanently eliminate the Stanley Cup.”
Carney said his conversation with Trump turned to a “series of issues” that Ottawa will follow up on, in tandem with negotiations on the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement on trade, known as CUSMA. The continental trade pact is up for mandatory review this year.
Trade talks between Canada and the United States have been frozen since October, when Trump was angered by an Ontario-sponsored TV ad that quoted former president Ronald Reagan criticizing tariffs.
While Trump said Monday that “we will start negotiations, IMMEDIATELY,” a White House official speaking on background said the president was referring only to talks about the bridge.
The bridge connecting Windsor, Ont. and Detroit is supposed to open sometime this winter after delays.
The Trump administration endorsed the bridge project in 2017 during his first term in office.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution against President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canadian goods, delivering a stinging rebuke to the administration for launching a trade war on its northern neighbour.
The House voted 219-211 in favour of a resolution seeking to terminate the national emergency that Trump invoked in February 2025 to empower his tariffs on a range of imports from Canada.
Six Republicans defied the White House and joined the Democrats in voting for the measure.

I guess now I'm a sex offender.
Republican Rep. Brian Mast of Florida criticized the Democrats for putting forward a resolution that he says ignores the reality of the fentanyl crisis and Canada's role in it.
"Apparently they don't support tariffing a country that acknowledges they have a drug trafficking crisis, but they weren't doing anything to fix it," Mast said.
Always Florida, always fucking them. What crisis? The crisis we not fixing because there is no fucking crisis! If your state sinks into the ocean tomorrow it wouldn't be soon enough. If you're a Canadian still snowbirding in Florida then you're part of the problem.

A Texas man will not face charges after gunning down his daughter after they got in a heated argument about President Trump. Lucy Harrison, who was visiting from the UK, died of her wounds after the 23-year-old was shot in the chest Jan. 10, 2025 at her father’s home in Prosper, located around 35 miles north of Dallas.
Her dad, Kris Harrison, who moved to the US when his daughter was a child, admitted during an inquest that he was an alcoholic who had relapsed and drank three glasses of wine on the day of the shooting, BBC reported. Lucy’s death was initially being investigated by local cops as a possible manslaughter case but no criminal charges were ultimately brought against the father after a Collin County grand jury decided against indicting him.
She was traveling to the US with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, who later told a court the dad and daughter had a “big argument” about Trump a few days before he was set to be inaugurated for his second term.Kris and Lucy frequently butted heads about her father’s conservative leanings, particularly that he purchased a Glock 9mm handgun a few years earlier, Littler said.
The argument started when Lucy pressed her father about an unspecified hypothetical scenario regarding a woman who had been sexually assaulted.
“How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I’d been sexually assaulted?” she asked her father. According to Littler, Kris shot back that it wouldn’t upset him that much because he had two other daughters who were living with him. It was not immediately clear how Trump factored into the back-and-forth, but his callous response made Lucy “quite upset” and she stormed upstairs.
Later that day, a few minutes before they were going to leave for the airport, Lucy’s father took her hand and led her into his bedroom on the ground floor of the home. Fifteen seconds later, Littler said he heard a loud bang, followed by Kris screaming for his wife, Heather, according to the outlet. “I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor near the entrance to the bathroom and Kris was just screaming, just sort of nonsense,” Littler said.
According to Kris’ statement to police, he had been watching the news and offered to show her his gun after a segment on gun violence.
“As I lifted the gun to show her I suddenly heard a loud bang. I did not understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell,” he said, admitting he couldn’t recall if his finger was on the trigger.
He said he had battled alcoholism including a stint in rehab, and that he had been drinking before the shooting took place.
Police officer Luciana Escalera noted in her evidence report that she smelled alcohol on Kris’ breath when she responded to the call.
Kris said he “fully accepted” the consequences of his action, and that “there isn’t a day I don’t feel the weight of that loss, a weight I will carry for the rest of my life,” in a statement through his attorney.
Lucy’s mother, Jane Coates, described her late daughter as a “real force of life.”
“She cared. She was passionate about things,” she said.
“She loved to have debates about things that meant a lot to her.”
How do you avoid ANY culpability for being drunk and handling a firearm… I understand it could have been an accident, but alcohol should negate it being passed off as such. Only in Texas.

Did you know in Wisconsin the first DUI is non-criminal? It was the first 3 are non-criminal, I saw it on a cop youtube video, but I think the law has since changed.

Dad: Ooops

I had said earlier in this thread when Venezuela happened that Cuba wouldn't be far behind, low and behold.
Flights being cancelled, pretty much zero oil imports into the country leaving them pretty much powerless.
It's going to get really bad for Cubans in the short-term.
