Gillis on 1040 right now. Tuned in late myself.. might have to check the podcasts to see what I missed. Think he’s on air until 6PM |
GMMG's interview on Team 1040 today was lit af https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1...saga-1.1189506 - all but onfirmed AQ hired Torts - Weber being traded to Van was discussed to the point where he had a meeting with him at his home in Kelowna - wanted to rebuild after 2012 by trading assets until "things intervened" This was a fantastic listen to get into the mind of the most successful GM we've had. |
articulate, precise, pragmatic, well thought out, recognizes his mistakes. what a difference from the current incompetence we've been cursed with. at least the casuals are happy. |
Ive always liked GMMG. Too bad he couldn't continue in hockey. |

its funny how when he said Torts didn't work that basically got him fired. The interview shows how much of a tool AQ actually is as an owner. I really liked when he said the biggest mistake he made was not changing the scouting staff which we have been saying for years. |

This called called Aquaman "Aqualooney" and I love it. |

Of note, Benning and Linden both heavily criticized Gillis’ unorthodox approaches when they initially took over and have since introduced similar policies (most recent being the video game ban on the road; MG & co’s human performance plan wouldn’t allow players to go for beers after a game, for example). |

He's actually a professor at UVic teaching law, so it's not like he's hurting for money. He said at the end of the interview that he knows Seattle will be looking for a GM and he'd be interested if they were to pursue him. Quote:

god if MG goes to seattle and wins a cup before Vancouver i'll shoot myself.. |
^pretty sure Flyers gave him that contract and Nashville had to match it. Anyways I always loved GMMG, his resume speaks for itself and there ain't no other Canuck GM in history that has the same achievements as he has. How he and Gilman worked around the cap was astounding. There were some bad moves he made, not signing Ehrhoff, letting Torres walk, not getting enough for Hodgson. But anyways if he was still with the team, we would never would.of spent almost 8mil on Roussel, Beagle, n Schaller. Would be saving that money to try and land a big fish like Bobrovski next year |
In a perfect world, GMMG would be our GM and Benning would be the Asst GM and in charge of scouting... |
We couldve got dennis siedenberg from Florida too if we did, we probably wouldve won Also a replacement of Victor Oreskovich |
Except everybody back then had their pitchforks out, ready to burn GMMG |

I always respected how he came in and did all the little things that he knew players wanted to come to a market that was otherwise unattractive... putting in luxury features and making safety changes to the boards/glass at Rogers... he made this place one that players wanted to come to. |
i never doubted GMMG |

Gilman = Assistant GM aka 'capologist' Benning = Assistant to the Assistant GM Judd Bracket = Director of Amateur Scouting Bracket is a stud in terms of viewing prospect so I don't think I'd give him up for GMJB |
