Looks like you got the top 3 places. Unless you're willing to try Craigslist, sometimes you can find new tv especially people who got the Telus free LG HD 4K TV promo.

Costco is pretty competitive, but not always. Worth checking before purchase though. A few of their 65” 4K tv’s are ~1300-1500 or whatever. Pretty tempting

I only have an anecdotal response, but out of the tv’s I’ve seen get returned, wayyyy more Samsung/Sony/LG get returned over second tier brands like Visio and Haier. Take from that what you will.

Yeah, it's hard to judge reliability just based on returns. Without knowing the original sales numbers, you really don't know the percentage of devices with issues. With a cheap tv you're liable to just tolerate minor issues that you'd return an expensive model over. From my research, the 2017 Sony's were "better" for features and value compared to Samsung's. I ended up with a 65" xbrx900e. Online at Xmas at Costco.

^^ Maybe because most people opt to buy a Samsung/Sony/LG then Visio and Haier. SO it seems they will have more returns as well.

I was going to get Visio last year but given how the model I wanted to purchase use a table as a remote I decided against it. Got a Sony instead and is been great.

I bought a Vizio two years ago when I bought my house. Money was tight, and I figured if it lasted a year I'd be surprised. No problems with it, and it's actually nicer in a lot of ways vs my 'better' Samsung TVs. Planning on putting a Vizio into the shop when the tv there, which is on it's way out, finally dies.

Bought a small Samsung from OpenBox.ca probably somewhere around 3 - 4 years ago? I only use it for video games and watching movies. So far so good.

At the time, I probably saved ~$50 off a $300 tv? YMMV though.

I've got a Vizio D55U bought from Costco. I've had one issue with it and Vizio was great to deal with in getting it fixed.

At Costco Richmond I just saw, hisense 65” 4K, $789.99 and a Visio 70” 4K for 1199.99. I’m very tempted for the Visio, upgrade from my 58”

if youre buying "higher end" models, those are the times to buy. For just regular lower end/standard models i think you just wait for a decent deal and pull the trigger.

When i bought my XBR850B i ended up buying from Future shop with the guy giving me the "boxing day" price a week before xmas

8 months prior to me buying this TV was going for $3800, i paid $2200 taxes in, ended up being the lowest price i ever saw this TV go until the model year changed over, and even then, the left overs were going for 2400-2500

if you're not super anal about quality, how can you beat those prices.

70" for under 1200 and toss in that $125 extended costco warantee, youre laughing

I completely agree!

I got the Sony SONY 65" XBR65X900E as well. It was on sale for 1899.99

I was able to redeem a $600 best buy gift card through RBC when they were having a holiday 20% off gift card sale so I picked one up and used it for the tv.

That helped a lot. The 900E models had raving reviews. Worth looking into!

TV's are so cheap these days, I'm starting to consider them disposable items. Few months ago, I bought a 55" 4k hisense for $500... to use as a computer monitor. I didn't go with a high end brand because if it does break down in a few years, I'll probably buy another $500 TV with more modern tech in it and I'll still be ahead moneywise.

Things also got really confusing when I found out that Sharp and Toshiba are made by hisense in North America.

Yeah i read that too. The funny thing is sharp and toshiba are respected brands aswell. The problem buying the highest end tv is that in 2 or 3 month the tech is already old and something new and "better" is available.
