They're practically a police state compared to here for rules and laws. How is that woke? It's literally the opposite lol

They have like ZERO tolerance for speeding. I think it's crazy people can drive that slow.

Badhobz 07-06-2025 02:54 AM

I was gonna ignore them and have it sent to hopping mad collection agency but I reread my rental contract and they’ll just ding my credit card and a fee on top.

Can’t even argue with it. They got me at an obscure intersection on a downhill part doing 4 lousy KMs over the speed limit. 54kph. Literally the worst place to drive in the world.

I was walking my dog on Friday (or carrying her to the park actually cuz she’s 19) and my neighbour a few doors down at 3pm in the afternoon is sitting on her front lawn with a cooler and AC-DC playing talking (!) on her phone and saying “I don t fucking care if you don’t want to go, I’m going to Stampede when the rodeo is on and I’m not going home until the rodeo is done rodeoing whether you’re there or not! The kids can take care of their own damn selves!”

Where else you gonna find that in a medium-posh neighborhood? Certainly not uptight Vancouver lolol

It’s a huge revenue generator. It’s not about safety it’s about making $$$

We have some friends from Aus that come here for a month or more a year and I drove with them to manning park. Where I’d be cruising 120+ they were white knuckling doing like 95 lol

Their traffic infraction revenue is an incredible amount of money for the state

They're fairly strict on car mods too. You can do lots of things but it has to be reviewed and signed off by an engineer as safe. Which probably isn't a bad idea for some things but it adds cost and complexity.

The one thing they do have right is engine size and power limits for new drivers. No rich idiots with an N on a Mclaren crashing into things.

Splat: Prime Minister Carney struggles to flip perfect pancake at Calgary Stampede

Carney attended a pancake breakfast Saturday hosted by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters

Prime Minister Mark Carney may be a deft hand when it comes to handling finances, but he proved Saturday that his flapjack flipping could use some work.

Carney attended a pancake breakfast Saturday hosted by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, which attracted a crowd of about 200 people.

"The grill's hot," Carney told onlookers. "You guys ready?"

Sizzling on a black, flattop griddle, Carney slid his spatula under the first hotcake and flipped it, landing with a splat.

In an attempt to redeem himself, he tossed a second into the air, but it, too, landed lopsided and sent batter splatters into the crowd.

...

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was also attending the breakfast, but waited in his vehicle until Carney left.
PP had an interesting Stampede weekend:
- Wore a cowboy hat backwards
- Rode a horse around while wearing a sheriff's badge. Seen waving to nobody
- Hides in his car while Carney is flipping pancakes.

OTOH, Carney sucks at flipping pancakes and it's apparently news.

“Never read CBC”

Instantly Posts CBC to go after guy who doesn’t have a seat/is irrelevent? :lol

Aight, aight..

As an unrelated note, I thought Carney's cowboy hat was easily 2 sizes too big LOL~

Please return to your regular programme.

The sense I get is PP has lost his lustre. He was riding high when JT was in the gutter and before Trump got elected. After Trump got elected, he was flat footed and it became clear he had nothing beyond far right talking points. No plan to combat the tariffs or deal with Trump. Now, most people who were on the fence, the same people he needed to win the election have tuned him out and he's back preaching to his core supporters. He still has no plan for the tariffs or how to grow the Canadian economy in the Trump era.

Australia also has extreme luxury tax on cars and severe consequences for excessive speed/stunting/street racing.

Hope Mark Carney rewards his rich friends at brookfield and remove the federal luxury tax

I have that sense too and I'm largely baffled that he's still telling the same story from before the election. I don't see how it's a winning strategy if the gov't falls. I'm further surprised that no one in the Conservative Party has tried to challenge his leadership - he ran a horrible campaign and while there were external reasons for his loss he and his team bear a lot of blame. He went from being able to wipe the Liberals off the map to losing his own seat - that's a catastrophe and there's zero accountability for it within the party.

That said, the polls seem to think he's largely fine - his favourability ratings are unchanged since the election (at a net zero which is not a good rating). (https://abacusdata.ca/abacus-data-po...t-28-disagree/)

The world has changed and he hasn't so I don't see see why the Cons should keep him nor do I see how he wins the next election.

I paid almost $100K in LST for my Revuelto, and since LST is pre-tax, it's basically tax on tax. You pay BC luxury tax (PST) and GST on the total, including the LST. And the chances of the Liberal repealing LST are slim to none.

PP will soon go through a leadership review ... so we shall see.

I agree and the other issue with PP is that he pretends to be a populist, yet many of his positions align more with being a globalist. Immigration is a perfect example, he was originally pro-immigration, saying we need workers, and now he's talking about deportations.

Another thing that might work against him is that the conservative wave we’re seeing under Trump will likely run its course by the time the next election is called, and many of his talking points may no longer resonate with voters.

Days like today when I sell a $1000 USD AI ad package... I'm totally more globalist! Keep bringing in more Jagmeshpreet... the Amazon deliveries and Walmart grocery deliveries and UPS Rockauto deliveries have been fucking hyper-fast and 100% accurate, nearly every time delivered by a guy in a turban. Keep'em coming!

And I haven't even talked about the DoorDash butters chickens I had the other night... Gawd-DANG!!! So good. :fullofwin:

Jason00S2000 07-07-2025 09:13 AM

UK and Canada are going to look the same soon! :lol

I was just in England for 10 days last month spread between London, Manchester and Warrington… your “news” source is being absolutely ridiculous

Hondaracer 07-07-2025 09:38 AM

When I was just in London Our driver to and from Heathrow came from Serbia 15 years ago

He was telling us how his neighbourhood is basically surrounded by Muslim neighborhoods who now will harass any woman tourist or local for coming through the neighbourhood not wearing a head scarf and even his daughter gets harassed now.

What does he know hehe

London is a fucking dump though. What do you expect

mikemhg 07-07-2025 10:23 AM

Speaking of London, my algorithm has been pushing me videos from this asshole's page:

https://www.youtube.com/charlesveitch

Has anyone seen his vids (outside of that viral video going around of his bodyguard kicking a dude in the liver).

He basically walks around London harassing people, trying to encourage a reaction, then cries like a bitch when something happens.

Oh yeah I’ve never heard of an uber driver making hot takes of a sexist/racist/xenophobic/homophobic variety.

Hondaracer 07-07-2025 11:17 AM

You don’t have to dig far to verify his claims.

Pretty clear poor immigration policies have been disastrous for both the UK and France.
