I think the following will happen, NA, USA/ Canada party is over or it's already 3 am. Just look at uk France Western Europe. There's not gonna be any make XYZ great again cuz we don't have a strong nor far sighted enough government to implement anything. Shit is already in decline. The average voter will not be willing to take XYZ cuts to turn things around. Things are already too late. And will only get worse, debt gets larger, older population to burden us down. Immigration won't save us due to the type of people / quality we let in. People who are already here will grab and milk what they can, those who have will eventually realize shits not as good as what it used to be. Nor will it improve, the ones with ability will leave. Use Canada maybe for healthcare, residency but will leave, look for greener pastures. Taxes / wages don't make sense here vs the quality of life you get here. You can argue nature, blah blah environment, nature and fresh air but it ain't paying your $1m mortgage, feeding your kids, or raising them to be capable, just wokies and if they are a man or dog.

Think of all the people who will be getting an inheritance in the next decade or two, if you are under 40 and already have decent savings, your own home, and I assume you're not a retard, then your parents throw you $2m when they die. Will you still bother to live here? Dealing with this general decline, or will you look for cheaper, safer countries to live in. Maybe not fully leave, but you can easily quit, rent in whatever country you want and live a comfortable life there. You can literally country hop every few months. Assuming you spend $10000 a month, it's not hard to generate $120k a year on $2-3m portfolio. I think the only people left will be the bag holders, the ones without $ to leave.

I don't really see RE picking up much in the next 10 - 20 years, people are already tapped out with current wages, and I don't see what the next boom in Canada will be to make the general population rich. There's no new comers and the ones that do come can't even afford rent. Also, cost to build will only continue to go up. So yes prices will still go up due to cost and inflation, but I don't see a RE boom.

Also, it doesn't really matter whether Churchill really said this quote. What matters is how much truth there is to it. And if you ask me, I'd say it is 100% true.

Meanwhile his inaction and lack of urgency to deal with the US on trade has led to jobs leaving Canada, consumer confidence at an all time low, and a very weak economy. Carney went to Washington a week ago to meet Trump and accomplished absolutely nothing. Additional tariffs are now in effect with no relief in sight.

https://www.cp24.com/local/peel/2025...t-to-illinois/

Carney and the Liberals are going to get a rude awakening very soon if they underestimate the risk of an early election happening very soon. Especially once his "austerity" budget is truly felt by his supporters. Meanwhile, Poilievre is probably positioned to win if Carney loses the support of NDP voters who voted for him. The upcoming Quebec provincial election also gives the BQ the ammunition to act sooner rather than later. Carney's budget will be transformational. Liberals will be upset at defunding important programs that have a huge welfare effect on vulnerable people. Conservatives will be upset at the level of debt that is unsustainable. The BQ will be pissed because there wont be spending for QC special interest groups. There will be grandstanding against the budget. Bro, once the honeymoon phase for Carney is over...his tour is over too. I wouldn't be surprised that a renewed NDP leader and base will help bring down the current government so the NDP regains popular party status.

And to be absolutely clear... do you really think I even give a flying fuck? I get most of my incomes from outside of Canada. Canada accounts less than 1% of my total family income yet I pay Canada taxes on income from everywhere. I have 5 citizenship/permanent residencies and I can go wherever and whenever but yet I stay in Canada because it's the one place I love.

You guys never understood my intentions. You think that I support the Conservative policies to make people like me better off and those less fortunate worse off. The truth is, I genuinely think for Canada because as a Canadian, I wish to see Canada prosper and my follow Canadians live a better life. And what Liberals are doing is nothing other than keeping those Canadians dependent of the government.
These things take time to be voted in. A few post up (I forgot who said it) is right and there might be back lash and the Supreme Court might have something to say about it, but it's a CONCRETE plan to move forward versus hopes and dreams and empty promises which I've gotten from the conservatives.

And I think you should absolutely care about this because it affects your safety regardless of where your income comes from. You are taking this off to a tangent that has nothing to do with the actual announcement. No one is more dependant on the gov't because of bail changes.

Dude, I dunno why you are always only reading into the news that supports your pre-determined bias. Carney has already indicated that Stellantis is looking to put a new model to be assembled at the Brampton plant to fill the void left by the Compass move. And I would tend to remain cautiously optimistic on this because Stellantis still has major stakes in the upcoming EV battery plant in Windsor. For that to go through (and for them to get the tax credits), they had signed on to some sort of jobs guarantee with both Ontario and Ottawa.

CP24 is Toronto's largest news channel and a sister channel to CTV.

The Brampton plant has been shut down since 2024 to retool but that work stopped in Feb as Trump rolled out tariffs. Stellantis has clearly stated that any new vehicle coming to Brampton is completely dependent on a trade deal with the US. In the same breath, Stellantis announced it will invest $13B to expand their plants in the USA and add more than 5k jobs over the next 5 years. Trump's tariff worked as intended and it is Canada's loss due to Carney's inaction. I doubt there will be product coming to this plant if a tariff persists considering how much Stellantis' market share has dwindled and how much cash they are hemorrhaging. Might as well shut down the unprofitable plants.

Unequivocally, the tariffs have a major impact to our economy. He was elected on a mandate to stand up to the US and deliver results. We have nothing so far but even more tariffs and empty platitudes.

From the top of your list:

"- Launches Build Canada Homes: $25B financing for modular housing."

How exactly does this help solve the affordable housing crisis in Canada? The liberals have been promising to solve this for the last decade and achieved very little. Building boomer modular housing on expensive land is not really a tenable solution, bro

Why do you keep saying bro, you're a 50+ year old bitter ass boomer. It's really embarrassing.
Bromigo, Canada's economy contracted by 1.6% due to a sharp drop in exports directly as a result of the tariffs. Simultaneously, business investment also sharply decreased. This isn't exactly the sign of a healthy economy.

Supposedly the trade negotiations were at at "an intense phase" back in July. Nothing has been achieved since. We just blow deadline after deadline with no results. Carney is the one that promised: "We intend, from a federal level, to have free trade by Canada day." Carney overestimated his ability to deliver.

By the way, pointing out things like this is a sign of a healthy democracy. We should be holding our elected officials accountable.

The unfortunate reality is Canada, and most of the world, will never have a great economy ever again. Too much has been sold. We do not own any of our own resources anymore. Harper made sure they were sold to get us through the 2009 financial crisis. We can have every land raping project get approved til the end of time, but most of the money will leave the country to foreign corporations. More of the jobs will be automated and if we try and collect anything via taxes, various loopholes will be exploited and even more of the money will go offshore to the bottom dwelling countries which will be thankful to get a pittance in tax revenue for “basing the corporation” inside their borders.
Until the United Nations creates a mandatory minimum tax rate, globalization will continue to drop the quality of life in first world countries in the name of corporate profits.
There is no fixing this. Capitalism has passed the point of fixing things and humans will either need to create an entirely new economic system if we ever want to see a decent portion of humans being able to have what they are worth.
This is why the elites are so heavily pushing crypto. It's no coincidence our own mayor Sim seems to be spending more time/energy on crypto crap than that of managing the city.

I truly believe this is the eventual goal, prop up crypto while pushing for deregulation, giving them the ability to further keep their funds opaque, making it harder to tax.

Bromigo, you are taking things out of context again. The "free trade by Canada Day" was a political promise to lift all federally imposed inter-provincial trade barriers, and the federal gov had delivered on that promise.

You are sounding like a mis-information machine by mixing and twisting truths to suit your narrative.

You got it clue.

That's why I think we're hosed, and it's only going to get worse.

There's a reason why Oracle and Silver Lake are buying Tiktok, there's a reason why media (ABC, CBS, HBO, CNN) are being consolidated under these conservative billionaire bastards, and is why companies like Meta are stuffing this AI slop down our gullets.

People will become more confused, doubtful, untrusting of news, all within differing views of reality, a perfect environment for broken politics, making democracy essentially impossible.

It's a dark future ahead.

Yes, I know what his comment was referring to. Congrats on making it easier to buy booze from other provinces lmfao

But going back to free trade, it was Carney who mentioned the deadline of August 1st: "Throughout the current trade negotiations with the United States, the Canadian government has steadfastly defended our workers and businesses. We will continue to do so as we work towards the revised deadline of August 1."
